Marenco is a great rainforest getaway. From the time we arrived on the boat the lodge was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and the food was fantastic. You can't beat the location. My wife and I took a guided rainforest hike and went snorkeling (we suggest both). Each individual hut is spacious and some offer a view of the... More

You're going to hear a biased opinion from me because I love nature in the tropics. That said, my stay at Marenco was one of the most enjoyable 5 days if my life...and I've been to a lot of places. The setting was gorgeous, even if you're not into such things--the beaches, the old-growth trees hundreds of feet tall, and... More

I stayed in a bungalow which had 2 double beds in it and nothing else. Not even a chair to sit in. The porch had 2 old, uncomfortable chairs to sit in, sort of like a hammock chair. The electricity is turned off from 11 pm until 7 am. (not mentioned on their web site) Therefore, hard to sleep due... More

Unfortunately, the rainy season started in April for us. We got rained on every day we were at the Marenco. The first room they put us in was the furthest possible from the dining hall and the meeting area. This was unfortunate as we had small children. After the first night they moved us closer. The first room was in... More

We stayed at Marenco in late March 2007. If you are someone who likes/needs air conditioning, whirlpools, shopping, gormet dining options, or room service you will not be happy here. On the other hand, if you love being close to nature, hearing howler moneys outside your room, hiking on trails connected directly to the property, and eating well prepared food... More

We just got back from 10 days in beautiful Costa Rica, 4 of which were spent at Marenco. Of almost 300 pictures we took, almost 200 were taken here - if that tells you anything of the absolute beauty of this place. The Bad: The rooms were rustic - small huts, no A/C - there is a fan but when... More

I was nervous about this leg of our journey...whether it would be too rustic and relaxed for our four children. They were entranced with Marenco. We loved the "rustic" rooms with the mosquito netting over the beds and the quiet porch which looked out over the rainforest and ocean. Million dollar views, especially early in the morning and late in... More

We stayed for five nights at Marenco Lodge and loved it. We had a basic wooden room with a balcony which looked out over the gardens and to the sunset over the island. The accommodations were rustic but exactly what we were after. The lodge has its own guides who are able to organise hikes to Corcovado National Park, as... More

We just returned from a long weekend at Marenco outside the Corocovado National Park in Drake's Bay - the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. The staff was great, the meals were sufficient, and the bungalow was breathtaking. In 3 days, we saw monkeys and macaws, went hiking and diving, and met people from all over the world. I... More
