Pmp is the perfect place for the experienced traveler. The rooms are clean. The staff is friendly and knowlegeable. The food is excellant. Fresh fruit and juice with a full breakfast. Lunch. Dinner with the possibility of fresh fish from the days catch, excellantly prepared. All meals included. A quaint full service bar. Pmp is not for all travelers. It... More

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Poor Man's and thouroughly loved it. It was easy and comfortable "roughing it". We had an ocean view from our cabin and awoke to the sounds of the juncle and ocean waves. There were not many guests and it was so peaceful and quiet. Our days were filled with trips to Cano... I stayed at Poor Man's Paradise in 2003. The Amaya family were kind and very helpful. They were extremely knowledgable and willing to share any information you requested. The resort is more rustic than some in the states, but you are in COSTA RICA! I came home covered in bumps from all the bug bites during my stay, but wouldn't... More

We were refered to this quaint getaway place by a friend who lived in the area. It was beyond our expectations. It was about a hour boat ride until you get to the ocean, but there is some great seanery getting there. Once you get there you are treated like royalty. Meals are prepared and served in then local kitchen... More

I had previously come to Costa Rica and been disappointed by hitting all the hot spots that Lonely Planet recommended - Arenal, Monteverde etc., finding them overun with tourists and aggressive guides and taxi drivers. They were these gringo bubbles created, shuttling everyone from overcrowded destination to the next and back to the hostels serving cheeseburgers and big screen tvs... More

We were lucky to pass x-mas 2009 at Poor Man's Paradise and it was the most remarkable stay during our 3 1/2 week vacation in Costa Rica. If you love nature, if you love the beach, quiteness and some adventure - go there. If you like to party, if you need loads of comfort, if you can't do without a... More

These guys really took care of us! My girlfriend and I showed up without reservations, just looking to camp and were given the best hospitality that we have received in a long time in CR. (and we live in CR!) Our plan was to hike to sirena in corcovado from Drake Bay. We really didnt have clue regarding the difficuly... More

My wife and I found this little gem of a place nearly a decade ago and thought so much of it that we invited 40 of our closest friends to our wedding there. We have since had many children (5) and come back every year to a place that fulfills all our desires. Romance, QUALITY family time, fishing, horseback riding,... More
