Mattresses and pillows are dirty, damp and stinky. We had to put an extra sheet over the bed, and a towel over the pillow so we could try to keep the smell down. The bathroom has black mold. The back of the fan was filthy. The rooms are dark, dirty, damp ,musty, and gloomy. The hammock stunk.

I have stayed in many other establishments on my trip and this is easily one of the best. Great staff and friendly owner. The bar area is great for socializing. Location is perfect and the building and rooms are extremely spacious. I would stay here again if I ever return to Puerto Viejo.
