We stayed 3 days at the Selva Bananito Lodge and we were enthusiastic and very impressed about that Lodge. It's a wonderful place to relax and let the soul dangled in the hammock to listen to the sound of the rainforest. We had no current, but the athmosphere was extremely good specially in the hut. What I will emphasize, the... more

ok, so this place has some interesting upsides, but some rather serious downsides. On the upside, it's VERY off the beaten track, with access to some impressive primary rainforest. Many of the other organized hikes we did in CR were fairly tame, whereas these were extremely challenging, even if you're fit and have decent equipment. The food is good, but... more

I brought my brother back here so he could see why I raved about Selva Bananito after my first visit. The owner Juergen Stein was as attentive and responsive as before, plus we had an outstanding guide who took us riding through the farm and on various hikes, including one very strenuous one to a beautiful waterfall, down which we... more

Spent 3 nights here in May - this was a real surprise, as my sister arranged it and I just came along not knowing what to expect. No electricity, but who cares? Beautiful setting on edge of a rainforest, "green" in every way. We rode horses, hiked in the forest, rapelled down a waterfall, and saw all sorts of exotic... more

A true adventure! Everyone who works here was so welcoming and accomodating. I was nervous about some of the activities- but all are run with extremely competent staff that will protect you and keep you safe. The cabins are beautiful- not having electricity was fun- the place is gorgeous- We had an absolute blast. Not for people who need total... more

We stayed with our then 5-year-old son at Selva Bananito for 7 nights a couple of years ago, and were overwhelmed at its beauty and wonderful accomodations. Most of all we were impressed that we'd finally found a lodge that was a true ECOlodge -- using lilies to clean waste water, special biodegradable soaps and insect repellents, solar water heaters,... more

This was an absolutely fantasic and magical trip. Being absolutely immerssed in the rainforest was a unique, once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. The tree climbing adventure was truly amazing, the panoramic views from the canopy were absolutely captivating. I would also highly recommend the waterfall repel. The food was also really amazing. It was all... more

We enjoyed 2 nights at Selva. It is 15 km up a very bumpy, remote road. Do not consider driving to it unless you have a 4 wheel drive with an suv type clearance. If you have a car arrange for them to pick you up in town. And if you are driving, yes, you have to cross that 50... more

A wonderful experience: a very isolated eco lodge with wonderful casita's which consist of local materials. Especially the superior rooms are very large and have to queen sized beds. No windows, no mosquito nets, no airco, no fan. just shutters to close the windows and doors. Large Shower fits Ieasy 20 people. They use eco friendly materials only: special shampoos... more
