This was the last major stop on our birding trip. After settling into our rooms, there was a knock on the door..."toucans in the lobby area!". We rushed out to find Collared Aracari in the trees and feeding from fruits set out on a wooden slab. This was just the beginning! A seating area provided comfortable viewing of a large... More

Location for rafting and canopy was perfect. Staff hardly speaks english. Food is very simple, don't expect anything special. Rooms are big, but dirty and outdated. Beds are terribly hard. Grounds look nice. Didn't see the croqs. Butterfly garden was empty. More

Greetings! We thank you all very much for the feed back, this is the only way we can improve. Because of our compromise with sustainability, 100% of our staff comes from our neighborhood, a rural area in Costa Rica where English is not a common skill. Hiring and training local workers is part of our policies of social responsibilities toward... More

We stayed at this hotel on our way to Arenal. We actually stopped her to do the Tirimbina Night Hike. The hotel wasn't the best that we stayed at but it suited our needs. The grounds were very nice but the pool didn't go past 4 feet deep. In my opinion the staff didn't speak much English but we found... More

The rooms are adequate here - heaps of mosquitoes due to the close proximity of the river, so hanging out on the porch is a non-starter. Food was adequate. Love that the chef went out of his way to prep fish for the non-meaters in our group, and was very personable. More

This was the third hotel on our tour and we really enjoyed staying here. The rooms were not particularly luxurious, but the hotel in general had a really nice atmosphere to it. Our room was a good size but there wasn’t much storage space and we weren’t able to get much use out of the terrace due to mosquitoes. Instead... More

This hotel is out of town and in a quite spot, which is what we like. The hotel features small buildings that hold the rooms with small outdoor 'balcony' with a hammock. The room also has air conditioning, which you want during month of August. The restaurant is not very good. Dinner was a buffet for the two nights we... More

If you are traveling with kids to Sarapiqui, this place is a must! It has playgrounds, frog ponds, lizards galore, bats, a butterfly garden, a swimming pool, a pool table, and tube rafting on the river that runs past the lodge. (The travel guides also mention horseback riding but that service is no longer available.) For adults there are hammocks,... More

Room was small with a terrace that was okay but nothing special. Hotel design is good and airy. Restaurant adequate, food okay. Staff helpful on approach but looked rather apathetic. Bird tables good when loaded with fruit and birds feeding - lots of different types, big and small - good photo opportunities. Lots of books and stuff on the birds... More

If wildlife and birdwatching is your thing...La Quinta is a fabulous spot to be immersed in nature just steps away from your room. The covered walkways connecting our room with the dining room and guest lounge area gave us cover when the weather became wet.. The rooms available are neat. The bed is comfortable and there is a walkout deck... More

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The gardens were delightful and hotel is located right by the river. The only down side was that I was with a large tour group and another equally large group was there at the same time. I felt sorry for anyone who had come for a nice quiet stay. More
