We stayed here 3 nights with our 4 year old girl. A very nice and warm hostel. Basic rooms, not too fancy, but good. The best is just the location and the warm welcome of Meghan and how she will try to make it all at your best. It is in the middle of their small reservate which you can... More

Our family spent four nights at Chilamate one in a cabin and three at the top of the bunk house. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed in a way I've never experienced, almost like house guests . The children greeted my girls with fresh coconuts and it was obvious that nothing was too much trouble for any member... More

Meghan and Davis have created an ecologically sympathetic lodge in the beautiful Sarapiqui valley. As an ecologist I appreciated their determination to conserve the biodiversity of their rainforest reserve, whilst providing comfortable simple accommodation. They were great hosts- unfailingly cheerful (even at 5am!) and always helpful. They work hard to help other locals within the area by encouraging local art... More

It is rare that you leave a travel accommodation feeling fulfilled in so many ways. We were treated with genuine warmth, and provided for admirably. The facility itself is built with a wonderful combination of simplicity, respect for the environment, style and unpretentious comfort. ( since you are in the rainforest, you should expect to meet some interesting insects, although... More

What a lovely, simple, special place innkeepers Meghan and Davis have created out of their piece of riverside jungle. My wife and I stayed two nights at the beginning of March, and from the first phone call to the last delicious breakfast, there was a warmth and attention to the quality of our experience that one rarely finds; Meghan and... We stayed three nights and enjoyed several meals at Chilamate. Meghan and David have created a very low key, basic ambience with few bells and whistles. Good local food, friendly staff and basic accommodations. The emphasis here is on sustainability and living off the land. For breakfast you will have juice made from fruit picked out on the grounds, eggs... More

Thanks, TripAdvisor, for directing us to this lovely little spot alongside the Sarapiqui River. The hosts made us feel welcome and staying at their lodge was a wonderful treat. The rooms are spartan but super clean, the food is home cooked, delicious and served in an open air patio with birds and tropical plants everywhere. The property includes several acres... More

This is a great place to stay. David and Meghan have built the Eco retreat to help preserve biodiversity in the area and connect bio-corridors. Their friendliness was second to none and the food fresh and very good. Rooms are clean and very well serviced. Guides are readily available and very knowledgeable. A short guided walk was included in the... More

What a great place; Meghan and Davis are the most incredibly hospitable, warm people (starting with my initial email inquiries and lasting until the last minute of our visit); their lodge is a an amazing product of their commitment and vision--beautiful, comfortable, simple, in harmony; a great base for exploring the region, but also just for hanging out, swimming and... I had a fantastic stay at Chilamate Rainforest Eco-Retreat. Accomodations were great. Food was superb. Davis and Meghan are to be most highly commended in many ways: their involvement and commitment to the community; conservation and eco-sustainability efforts; their warm, cordial hospitality, etc. etc.! Most highly recommended! I am looking forward to returning!
