we had only planned two nights (jan 6-12) but ended up staying 6 nights. the hotel is charming, great location, a terrific family runs the hotel and we had a yummy breakfast everyday which was not included, but our rate was so reasonable. there are fancier places to stay but we felt so comfortable and the beach is so close... We spend 6 night at El Mono Loco and we cannot wait to be back. The hotel is beautiful and the room are always clean. The staff is very pleasant and helpful , and the kitchen offer good food for breakfast lunch and dinner. The price are very honest , it is a very good option in Tamarindo. More

We enjoyed our stay. Less expensive than most places in Tamarindo. It was quiet and clean. A bit of a walk to town, probably 5 minutes. Nice pool, and a few birds in cages that make beautiful sounds. More

This hotel has a great location. You are only feet away from the beach, yet walking distance from town. I went for a jog on the beach in the morning, walked to all of the shops in the afternoon, ate lunch, and then spent time down at the beach. We come back to the hotel in the evenings and enjoied... Great place to stay. Staff was great. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at anytime. Beer was plentiful, pool was relaxing. Lush green bright and vivid landscaping adorn the patio area. 4 hammocks to sit back and relax in More

We came across this hotel by accident and in hindsight were very glad we did! The rates were Very affordable ($18 per person and included breakfast) the rooms were very clean and the property was beautifully maintained. The family who runs it were all very friendly and helpful. Comfortable atmosphere. A short walk into "downtown" Tamorindo and an even shorter... More

After originally trying to book a reservation at Capitan Suizo, my girlfriend and I walked past El Mono Loco and decided to save over $100/night to stay across the street! El Mono Loco is not flashy, but is clean, comfortable, and well located -- not right in the noisy part of "town" but close enough to walk to everything. A... More

The landscaping in the hotel is very nice (it doesn't look like anything special from the outside though, but that didn't matter to us). The room had high ceilings, decent bathroom, and ac. Everything was clean. No TV. At $60 a night it was too pricey for basic ammenities. We really liked Villas Macondo and it was cheaper. More

El Mono Loco is the best hotel in Tamarindo. Comfortable beds, hot showers, cold AC, great hammocks, EXCELLENT FOOD, colorful vegetation, close to the beach, great people. However, before you set foot in La Placina, please first refer to the rules. If 40 and Lucky aren't there, I'm sure that Mauricio will be happy to accomodate you. You definately don't... More

Absolutly the greatest place to stay in Tamarindo. The rooms are cleaned daily, they have air conditioners that actually work, warm showers, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would reccomened El Mono Loco to anyone who is looking for a fun atmosphere that can laid backed, but also filled with huge laughs and welcoming smiles. Tell Silvia,... More
