This was our first trip to Costa Rica and while I was underwhelmed by Tamarindo I do have to say that Cala Luna was most likely the best place to stay in Tamarindo. The property and the rooms are just like the web site shows. The people are friendly, the property is clean and the pool is beautiful. It is... More

We only stayed here for 2 nights and loved every minute. The room was clean and spacious. Great swimming pool and genrally clean surroundings. The hotel has a lot of amazing vegetation which was fun to walk around and feel like you are in middle of tropical garden and steps away from the beach. The beach access is pretty -... More

Wow...where to start. This was our first trip to Costa Rica, and my wife and I spent weeks deliberating between Costa Rica and Aruba for our third anniversary. Yet again, Aruba just lost out (see my review for the Omni in Cancun!) as we decided that there was just more to do in Costa Rica. Then the question became -... More

We were on our honeymoon and spent Friday 5/11 to Monday 5/14 at Cala Luna. We had just come from a great stay in Arenal and were hoping the pattern would continue in Tamarindo. The greeting upon arrival was excellent. Cool towels for cleansing and a nice refreshing drink were presented. We met Anne, the concierge, who was very friendly... More

I searched and searched and searched for adequate accommodations in Tamarindo that met the minimum criteria I have for international travel, as I prefer to leave very little to chance. Generally, I tend to stay at Hyatt, Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Westin type hotels. So now you have a better idea of my threshhold. I took a chance on this hotel... More

Just 5 minutes outside of Tamarindo, or a 30 minute walk, Cala Luna is very quiet and relaxing. The owners live on the property and have 3 dogs roaming around which are very adorable and make you feel like you are at home. The restaurant onsite was amazing. We had almost every meal there. The food was better than most... More

I loved the Cala Luna! We went on our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The food was delicious - a little pricey but well worth it. The grounds are gorgeous, and the staff were so friendly and truely enjoy working there. We stayed in a basic villa with a bed, bath, fridge, etc. but... More

I'll start with the positive. The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were very beautiful and very clean. The food was good and it was really nice that the breakfast was including every morning. Very nice breakfast and excellent coffee. This was my third trip to Costa Rica and my first time to Tamarindo. This was the first time, I... More
