Despite the not so good reviews from other travelers, I actually enjoyed my stay at this hotel. East Asia Jinjiang is right on the famous East Nanjing Pedestrian Road. Restaurants, shops modern or old, fill this street. You get the "Shanghai Feel" while strolling along this road. The hotel is between two metro stations, Nanjing Road and People's Square Stations.... I chose this hotel based on the price and location. When I arrived at the reception staff were quite indifferent and cold. Basically you get your key and you shut up. Anyway I didn't expect and intend to chitchat so I didn't care. The hotel is quite old but my room was quite big, the bed comfortable. There was even... More

We happened upon this hotel by accident when we couldn't find the hotel we wanted. The location was great, right on the pedestrian East Nanjing Road, very close to Line 2 metro station. However, there are other hotels that are closer to the Bund that are much better. I know this because I've stayed in one right beside the Bund... More

We stayed at this hotel Dec 24 to 27 . The hotel is on the 2nd floor of a department store. The receptionists are wearing yellow smiley badges on their uniforms but they never smile and I mean all of them (whether the morning staff or the night staff). A good point would be, they let us check in early... More

It's all about the location! This hotel is right on the infamous Nanjing East Road pedestrian street, where all the shoppings and food and people are centred. It's close to the metro station (People's square), and about 20 mins walk to the Bund, where you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower and other buildings around it. The price for the... More

All this place has going for it is its great location. There are great eating and shopping areas around here, though they are over-priced because there are lots of tourists here. That's it for positives. With that said, I still cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if you are bringing young children with you. My buddy and I stayed... More

First of all, as far as I'm aware this hotel is now just referred to as East Asia Hotel, as all the adverts for it on Nanjing Road refer to it as such. As imaginable on Nanjing Road, this place is in an absolutely fantastic location - a 10 minute walk to the Bund and pretty central on Nanjing Road... More

The hotel is in a fantastic location - right in the heart of Shanghai. Unfortunately that's where anything good about this hotel ends. The reception staff were the rudest staff I have ever come across. We booked and pre-paid our room on line so we checked in quite easily. But I did have the pen snatched out of my hand... More

First, the location of this hotel can't be beat. It is directly outside of a subway station and several bus stations that can get you around Shanghai conveniently and cheaply. You can also walk to the Bund, or the opposite way down Nanjing Lu for shopping or the acrobatic circus. As for the rooms, they are pretty run down although... More

The hotel is definitely positioned well in terms of accessibility and its outer facade is a great illusion to the seemingly dull and stoic ambiance. Local color is evident outside as you have Bohemian musicians playing and a hot pot of transluscent Chinese vendors and drunkards pervade the place. Simply said, outside god, inside I wouldn,t have survived without Tsingtao.
