After a week in Beijing and the environs of Guilin it felt really good to renew the feel of the western world at the Portman Ritz-Carlton, with its first class R-C service, a first class fitness center, all surrounded by western style shops - Starbucks, grocery store, pizza. As I have come to expect when staying at any Ritz-Carlton, the... More

This is a great hotel, really good location in central Shanghai. Again we stayed in a Club suite and used the Club Lounge, it is well decorated and very clean, we did not notice the smell of smoking anywhere. However we found the staff attitude varied, from person to person and area to area. The door staff were excellent, very... More

Proof that old school does not mean outdated, this hotel while by no means cutting edge, instead delivers reliable service and with good comforts. I arrived at 4am off an overnight flight. While no one was outside to help with my luggage, the front desk staff was completely switched on and got me into my room very quickly. My bag... More

It is not a bad hotel, but as another reviewer said there are other options that are better. I have stayed at the Peninsula, the Grand Hyatt and the Park Hyatt in Shanghai. The other three hotels were much better. The electronics in the room were dated. for example there was no hotel service on the television. The furniture was... More

Well we stayed here for 2 nights back in May at the end of our China Tour and what a place to finish it was excellent. This Hotel was in a great location we were on the 25th floor so had great views over Shanghai or should say part of Shanghai it's so big. Our room was spacious with everything... More

I stayed at the Portman in June on a business trip and I choose the hotel for the location and the brand. Despite the nice concierge service, the team at the lobby ready to help and the central location, the hotel's room looked a bit tired and not user-friendly for a lady. When you travel on business, there are two... More

A great property from top to bottom. Great location with many restaurants, sights and shopping areas around. Good breakfast buffet at Tables restaurant and very friendly service all around. The linens were the best part of this stay; perfectly soft yet crisp. They made it hard to get out of bed in the morning!

This was billed as a five-star luxury top end hotel. It wasn't. It's ok, nothing particularly wrong with it. But décor feels a bit dated as did the bathrooms, I expected the Ritz brand to deliver rather more and didn't expect my hotel in Beijing (the Kerry) to be better on so many fronts. Benefits are that the hotel has... More

I would describe this hotel as 'comfortable'. It's nothing spectacular, the room and bathroom are well sized and clean. But the decor is a bit old fashioned. The staff I dealt with were all very polite and vast majority English speaking. Easy access to most points of the city but its on the opposite end to the Bund which is... More

I was upgraded which was nice. I only stayed 1 night, arrived at 11pm and left at 630am so I didn't really experience the hotel. The lobby has a bar in the middle and the front desk is to the right side. Staff were courteous. But my short stay wasn't what I had expected. The aircon the whole evening was... More
