Don't be fooled by the fancy foyer and ground floor area, once you enter the lift the experience charges significantly. The lift is old and slow, the rooms were like a 2 star motel, the pool and gym area are substandard.

This property is old-fashioned, and depressing, and in urgent need of upgrade. My room's so-called "deluxe" category listing was laughable. The restaurant is simple and barely adequate. And the hotel's service corresponds with its atmosphere--disappointing. Stayed Renaissance on April 5-6, 2012. I'm usually a big fan of Renaissance hotels, but I will not return to this one unfortunately as a tourist. Most of the other reviews say it all. Hotel is tired and in need of an upgrade, but having said that, the rooms are functional and clean and the service very good. Breakfast excellent and free wi-fi in common areas. Location quite good, but a 20 to 30 minute walk to Jonker Street etc.
