The central location in Kolkata was handy for our relatives to come to the hotel to visit us. I had stayed here before and the staff even (Lisa) remembered what I have to drink when I last visited a year ago! Many staff, including the front desk manager (Mr Bajpai) and restaurant staff remembered me and gave myself and my father a very warm personal welcome, making us feel like there is nothing too troublesome for them to do for us. When we wanted to change rooms they were very flexible with us and gave us an excellent room rate. The room was very comfortable and the beds were probably the most luxurious in the city. I took my 88 year old father, who could speak the local language (even though english was spoken everywhere) to the spa and 3 staff took care of him in the massage spa room. I felt that I could trust them with my father. They even had a wheel chair to take him to the other side of the hotel to eat and bring him back. The other guest services lady (Soni) helped us with everything and she took a long time to help me get messsenger on my i phone so that i could communicate with relatives. Meeting her was one of the highlights of the trip. All of the staff made us feel relaxed, and most of the cafe staff remembered us and helped dad get on his feet after lunch! The other highlight was the housekeeping man who I remembered from last time. On my dads birthday, he put flowers and a towel arrangement on his bed. So wonderful and skillful! he took time to clean the rooms and was always there and the laundry was so excellently done and folded like last year. The spa massage was excellent and they all gave me a relaxing massage and then facial. Pampa and the other lady and staff were all helpful and gave excellent treatment! My father said that this trip was one of the best trips he has had. The telephone operator was so patient with dealing with our many incoming calls and called me darling which was so nice. It was my best hotel trip EVER and I am definately keeping in touch with the staff and staying there even instead of with my relatives-the service/staff is world class. Last year they kept our baggage for a few days when we went away and returned. Thank you Kenilworth we will not forget you and would like to keep in touch. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the world-the food service and car service is the best that I have EVER experienced. Bless you all at the Kenilworth!

The rooms, including the bathroom are nice and clean.
Everything is suited for Western visitors - toilet paper, bottled water (refilled daily) for example.
Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Suggesting restaurants upon request, helping with anything you'd ask for.

Firstly, the location of the hotel is situated in the very heart of the city, accessible to any part of the city.

Response of the staff, right from Reception to the Housekeeping to the Food, their response was very quick and so Positive. The staff were very helpful and kind and looked after each and every need of ours with a smiling service, which could be seen, even though All wearing masks and keeping social distance.

Rooms were good, clean and very hygenic, too and well sanitized.

Check-in and Check out procedures were excellently handled by the staff concerned, keeping in mind the Covid-19 Rules and Regulations .

Their Reservations Executive,Ms Alka Verma, especially, has been so Helpful and Courteous, right from calling us up in Mumbai for confirmation of Room booking in the hotel till the last day of our Departure back to Mumbai.
This service was absolutely Praise worthy and Deserving.

Overall experience was Fantabulous. This hotel is highly recommendable.

Thanks.

This was my trip to the City of Joy after nearly 25 years, and so I had to do a lot of homework, trying to find a good place.
I booked Kenilworth for two nights initially, and made another booking for an extension of one night later. Arrived at the hotel, after an exhaustive two long flights, only to have friendly people all around me, checking me in quickly and leading me to my super comfortable room. The room was very clean and cozy but I think it was bit small. I dont know about other rooms. It did not have a great view from the windows, as the hotel was right in the centre of a lot of commercial properties.
I must say, that I slept like a baby.
The morning breakfast was a good spread of both continental and Indian cuisine. The staff at the restaurant was always at hand to help me out. Good breakfast.
The in room dining was also very good. I tried things like sandwiches to some good starters and I must say it was perfect.
I did not try out the gym since I did not have time.
What captivates you there is that each and every person who works for the hotel is always smiling and ever enthusiastic to help out. The security people at the gate are the ones you meet first when you enter the premises. They are the ambassadors of help with a smile. You carry that impression throughout the stay.
I would definitely stay here every time I will be in this city.
Two people who I must mention are Soni Subhankar and Arnab Sen. I am sure others must be equally good, but these two people made my day with all their smile and assistance.

The Kenilworth Hotel has a number of clear advantages which make it an ideal as a base for tourists exploring Kolkata. The first of these is location. It is situated in a relatively quiet location which, in a city as incredibly busy as Kolkata, is highly desirable. A number of the city’s 5-star hotels do not offer this benefit.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Kolkata metro, giving fast (and very cheap!) access to the south and north of the city; to the south Kalighat (Kali temple) and to the north: Park Street (commercial, Indian Museum etc), Esplanade (for the main city centre attractions), Sovabazar-Sutanuti (for Kumartuli) and Dakshineswar (for another Kali temple and ferry across the river to Belur Math and the Ramakrishna Mission). The Kolkata metro service is quite comparable to other older metros around the world.

Most importantly, the hotel is within easy walking distance of several of the most significant tourist attractions including the Victoria Memorial Hall, South Park Street Cemetery, St Paul’s Cathedral and the ISKCON temple. Kolkata Zoo can be easily incorporated into a walk back to the hotel from Kalighat via Belvedere Estate. For these and other trips, Google maps proved to be essential.

For travelling further afield (eg to Prinsep Ghat or the Howrah Bridge) either a hotel car or an Uber cab are the best options.

The second advantage is that the service is not only friendly but also nothing seems to be too much trouble. I was very much made to feel “at home”. The Concierge, for example, could not be more helpful in assisting with local travel arrangements and providing local information and advice.

Check in and check out were very efficient.

The hotel comprises two building of quite different ages within a secure compound. Neither was built yesterday ..so don’t expect USB sockets… however I am very pleased to say that I was presented with a spotlessly clean airconditioned room that offered a king sized bed, marble bathroom and every conceivable facility that I might need. The room was provided with a very generous supply of bottled water and housekeeping was most attentive. There was no need for mains power adaptors as the wall sockets took UK plugs. On arrival, after a long flight, the hotel proved a number of much appreciated refreshments.

Breakfast is very generous… the kitchen prepares a range of freshly cooked breakfast items to order in addition to a buffet. The hotel chef displays a great deal of talent and offers an exceptionally wide range of dinner menu options although it can be quite challenging not to order too much food! Between the buildings lies a lengthy (artificial) grass court yard which the restaurant opens up on to.

Would I stay at the Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata again? You bet I would.

Located in a great part of Kolkata, our stay at Kenilworth was an enjoyable time. Every member of staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived from the security at the front gate all the way to reception we received warm smiles and welcomes, this continued for our 3 night stay. The location was perfect for us as we could easily walk to the main attractions such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Victoria Memorial and Eden Gardens cricket stadium. Our room upon entry was extremely clean and the hygiene of the hotel was fantastic. Each day house keeping refreshed our room and checked in every afternoon to see if we required anything extra, often providing us with additional bottles of water which helped during the warm days. Every member of staff went above and beyond from all of the restaurant staff through to the house keeping team and security. In particular, our check-in was made easy after a late flight thanks to Pokhraj at reception and our check out was simple thanks to Dipankar. When I return to Kolkata I will be returning to Kenilworth as the hospitality and cleanliness exceeded my expectations.

Tucked at the heart of the most happening places of Kolkata this hotel has an old world charm about it. The lobby, decor and the rooms made me nostalgic.

I reached passed midnight to be greeted by Arnab and team at the front desk. The warmth and energy washed off the strain of connecting flights and torturous road travel.

The room was comfortable and Prasenjit from housekeeping ensured that I got my variatants of tea, coffee and snacks well stacked at the minibar. The linen clean and the bed well made everyday.

The resturants are quite spacious with the outdoor space by the lawn a special draw. The food was fabulous and the quantity just right, though the spead could have been a little more wider at the buffet. All throughout the staff had been very helpful and courteous which is another plus for this hotel. Special mention to Manashi, Tapas, Amit and Soumen for their patience and warmth. Check out was equally pleasant and smooth with Priyashree at the front desk. All throughout my stay for nearly a week I have seen these young people so welcoming and helpful, their genuine intend to connect makes the place more comfortable and cosy.

My sincere gratitude to the entire team, keep up the good work.

We had a fantastic stay at the Kenilworth Hotel for 4 days & nights. We had 3 executive rooms that fully covered our needs - they were clean, of adequate size and all gadgets and fittings were in working order (except a reading light in room 423).

Housekeeping did a fantastic job and were quick to replenish packets of coffee, sugar and milk when these ran out and tidy the rooms daily.

The reception desk was responsive to our every need. The guest services section helped us with planning a tailored package to the Sunderbans that was efficient and provided us with great memories. They also organised the transport to tour the famous local sights in Kolkata and see other not-so-famous places of our choice. The staff were always courteous and happy to help.

The restaurant was excellent too. The food was delicious but above all the restaurant staff made it a point to serve us what we wanted, even if it was not on the menu. They especially catered to the requirements of my mother, who is a pure vegetarian.

Thanks to the effort of the Kenilworth staff for making our stay so memorable.

My recent stay at the Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata was marked by a blend of positives and drawbacks, leaving me with a somewhat ambivalent impression.

Starting with the positives, the hotel's location is quite central, providing convenient access to key areas of the city. The exterior exudes a charming elegance, and the lobby is welcoming with its tasteful decor.

On the flip side, the rooms at Kenilworth Hotel were somewhat underwhelming. While they were clean and functional, they lacked the flair and modern amenities that one might expect from a hotel in this price range. The rooms seemed a bit dated, and a refresh could significantly enhance the overall guest experience.

The pricing, unfortunately, did not seem entirely justified, especially when considering the quality of the breakfast. The breakfast spread was average, and the options were somewhat limited. Given the price point, I expected a more diverse and high-quality selection. The value for money, in terms of the room quality and breakfast, left something to be desired.

The staff at Kenilworth Hotel were polite and accommodating, and their service was a highlight during my stay. They were quick to address concerns and went out of their way to make guests feel comfortable, which was a positive aspect of the experience.

In conclusion, the Kenilworth Hotel in Kolkata offers a central location and courteous staff, but the overall experience is tempered by average room quality and a somewhat overpriced feel, particularly when factoring in the breakfast offerings.

I come to Kolkata every year with a group of friends and the Kenilworth Hotel always makes our stay very special. The ample, elegant rooms, the impeccable cleanliness, the amazing buffet with a refined variety of Indian and European dishes, the kindness and competence of the staff (especially Priya and Soni), all contribute to make us want to come back every year. Absolutely recommended!
