On entering the site it looks like a bomb hit the hotel! The personnel are very nice and accommodating but in January although there are fire places, they are not clean or lit and it was freezing!! I stayed at Darjleeling Gymkhana Resort, at the Mall, Darjeeling. This is very old (more than 100 years) resort. It takes you to a glimpse of the british era facilities. The arrangements at reception, dining hall and the rooms takes you through the royal feelings of olden day life.

A resort situated very close to the Mall. Perfect Location. A good resort with a full operating club along with it. Spacious and nice for a big group. Fully vegeterian resort with a fantastic positioning right adjacent to the Mall. Very importantly have facility for car park.

The best part of this hotel is the food..it was excellent with a lot of variety...we stayed there for 2 days & 2 nights.Since we were with another family & their children are of the same age as us, we had no difficulty in passing time..There is also a gymkhana for recreational activities..we played table tennis, badminton etc..rooms are neat... The hotel looks great, lots of wood and a fireplace in the room. Lots of space in the rooms as well. Otherwise the usual "Indian problems" of some things not working or needing repairs. We had been to Gymkhana Resort in 2008. I just love the experince and was very sorry we just stayed one night.The food was AWESOME and we hogged like pigs. It was very cold and the lit the fire making us very comfortable. I look forward to visiting Gymkhana again.The view from the rooms are also great.
