We received a warm welcome at Gitanjali. This is a true homestay with meals taken at the owner’s house. Our room was large and simply furnished, the bathroom is practical with plenty of solar powered hot water. All windows and doors have mosquito covers. There is a little veranda with seating where you can enjoy the sound of the birds... More

Everything was perfect here... the family, the setting in lovely gardens, the rooms, and, of course, the food. It is typical Coorg cooking, with recipes that you won't find in many places, served with style. It is in a quiet spot on the edge of Mysore, but just a short drive from all the many attractions the city has to... More

Beautiful place, excellent food and very nice and interesting conversation! We spent 2 nights in Gitanjali homestay end of December 2012. The homestay is situated in a beautiful garden. The rooms are nice, very clean and have a nice veranda. The dinner offered was delicious and we very much enjoyed the conversation with the owners of the homestay.

We spent 2 nights in Gitanjali Homestay in February 2012. The place was absolutely beautiful: two small pavilions with 4 apartments situated in a lush garden. The apartment where we stayed was spotlessly clean and furnished with a great taste. If you feel tired and exhausted after Mysore sightseeing, this is the place you can rest and relax, provided that... More

I am sorry to hear that the guest had a disturbed sleep, although we were not told about this when they were here, despite having asked whether they had a good night's rest on both nights. This is the first time in 7 years that we have received this feedback but we will definitely look into resolving the issue. With... More

Food, conversation and a tranquil setting are three reasons to stay at Gitanjali. Traveling on my own, I appreciated that Yamuna joins her guests at the table and has much interesting to tell. The homestay atmosphere and small number of rooms means the other guests tend to be open. Being on the green edge of Mysore, you won't find alternatives... More

Simple rooms in a quiet setting on what used to be a coconut estate, with meals served in the home of Jamuna, daughter of the founders of Gitanjali Homestay. Meals were among our best in southern India, prepared by local women. Breakfasts included coffee from the owners' coffee estate in Coorg, homemade jams and ranged from porridge to scrambled eggs,... The best of Homestays. Up market combination of best of Indian hospitality and Western amenities. You arrive in glorious garden surrounding your bungalow. Calm and green on edge of Mysore. Gracious welcome and care from Yamuna with much helpful infomation and suggestions. Distinctive Coorg cuisine and good conversation with hosts and other house guests (just 4 rooms). A 5 star... More

The Gitanjali property is a few kilometres from town making it extremely quiet and peaceful. The rooms are tasteful and the sitting area outside is very pleasant. In contrast to another review, we loved that there is no TV or Wifi, it is the perfect place to switch off and read your book! The breakfast and dinner were a real... More

We just spent a week-end at this place going by some of the good reviews that this place received. While our expectations were very high with regards to the place our actual experience turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Our first disappointment was that when we arrived in the afternoon and inquired about dinner at their place... More

Yamuna and her parents have this large farm, which has 2 house-units for them, and 1 separate house unit (with 4 separate rooms) which serves as the guest house. The place is very well maintained - with a charming garden that has all kinds of fruit trees (guava, pomegranate, pepper, custard apple, chikoo etc). We had taken 2 rooms and... More
