Very friendly from the start. Sunil the manager was terrific. The room was quite good. The meal served on a lovely terrace was one of the best. Would definitely recommend this place. Great value for money.

Hotel was wonderful. The included breakfast was delicious and plentiful and included a pot of tea every morning! It is a short (but steep) walk down to Kandy lake and not far to the temple of the tooth, shopping, and restaurants. Our room was clean and ready immediately, and the staff are attentive and happy to share their local knowledge. The only drawback: steep hill to the place and stairs up to the rooms which would make it hard for guests with disabilities.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked 2 rooms and that day reached the hotel a bit earlier. They did not let us check in and said to come at 2 PM as check in starts that time. They knew we were helpless and they asked for extra money. It was off-peak season and all rooms were vacant but still they did not let us in. When I wanted to speak to the manager they use to say that he is not available or busy in meetings. I requested them many times to charge only for 1 room but they were very rude and took 3000 LKR from us for early check-in. Even the rooms are not that great and very small. There is no lift and usually budget rooms are all on the 3rd floor. And the road leading to this hotel is very narrow and steep. Please avoid this hotel if you can.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property, your comments are very much valued . It was 5.30AM (Check in time 2pm According to hotel agreement ) early morning the time you checked in. the reason we charged for the rooms is because ,it was the charges for the Electricity and Water cost, and it was not even the half price of the room charges. we told in the time you came and you agreed in the first for the condition. and also most of the other rooms were booked.

We found Amanda Hills as a last minute booking and were not disappointed. The room was well positioned with a direct view to The Temple of the Tooth and the lake. The room was comfortable, with a fan, air conditioning and fridge. The block of rooms are constructed in groups of three with a small common area, which would be great for families or small groups travelling together. Meals were great with a full Sri Lankan and western menu on offer. The team were friendly and helpful with all our requests. Located up the hill near most of the better accommodation, the walk (up and down) was relatively easy. If in doubt Tuk Tuk on hand close by for travel into the city area. Recommend to stay as a cost effective and comfortable accommodation.

Amanda Hills So many steps, which is fine if you've been sat in a car to get here. The reception is on the top floor with the restaurant. Rooms below. We had a triple with balcony and ensuite. There was a shared relaxing area for us and 2 other rooms. Ensuite is small, basic with an shower cubicle. Fridge & tv. No complimentary toiletries or tea/coffee, only a bottle of water. We had to ask for glasses. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, juice, pancakes, omlette, toast, butter, jam, tea & coffee. Sri Lankan breakfast is also available. Staff are friendly and very happy to attend to your needs. This hotel is at the end of a steep narrow road. Then it's steps up but to be expected in a mountain town. Lovely view from the roof top restaurant. It's a 10/15 min walk from the Lake. Beware, there are monkeys around so don't leave the windows open in your room. They're small enough to get through the bars.

Was suggested by others as my first accomodation was horrible. Friendly welcome, manager came to greet me as well. Location is very good: on hill, great view of the temple. Walking down to city around 10-15min or tuk tuk 200/250LKR. + room clean, some with balcony some with window only. In front of rooms some living area with chair and table- great addition. + fridge and safe in room + staff super friendly, breakfast is nice and fresh with view from terrace +had dinner as well, very tasty, even other guests commented on it. Good price as well!! +good water pressure with hot water (after switching it on, wait few minutes) + shower has a door (in sri lanka many accomodation has no shower door or curtain so the whole bathroom is wet) - Wifi in room is not working. (At reception is very good though) - maybe could consider putting some basic amenities (soap, small shower gel, etc) I enjoyed a very personalized service, the manager, 3 guys and the cleaning lady always helped and smiled. Absolutely recommend!! ***********
