This hotel has scarred me: it's unlikely I will ever stay anywhere as nice. The food was excellent; the best Sri Lankan food we had in our entire trip (I hope my aunties don't read TripAdvisor!). The service was very discreet. Our room was lovely: I drank my coffee from our balcony accompanied by a local lizard, watching a hot... More

The place is remarkable. Like a dream. The flutist at the pool side at dawn add tranquilizing calm to the atmosphere. Early morning view over the lake is unforgettable. Even any one having a slightest love to the nature will surely admire the masterpiece of great architect Geoffrey Bawa.

We stayed 2 nights at this wonderful hotel during October 2011. The hotel is build using the rock formation of the area. I think there nothing to complain about the hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The food was good including the breakfast.

This hotel is built under a huge rock on a mountain. From outside, it looks like a cave or heritage site. Hotel is full of green outside and monkeys peep into our open toilets. The break fast is good with live omlette and wood apple juice something very special to Srilanka. Careful to close the doors and windows always or... More

Well what can I say, just unbelievable . This hotel is built into the side of a rock and in the jungle. Friendly staff, staff couldn't do enough for you, food just delicious. This hotel has to be seen, it is just magnificent. an oasis in the jungle. The hotel has 3 pools, so pick which one, we swam in... More

I stayed here for one night, it was because I was on holiday with my mother, she and my dad have stayed at the kandalama many times so we paid £275 to red dot tours (highly recommended) to book our stay here even though we were staying at the jetwing beach in negombo. The price included our driver and bed... More

I stayed here during my tour of Sri Lanka and wish I would have spent more time there! The rooms are comfortable with nice views. The infinity pools are amazing! Plan to spend an afternoon there! Also, the spa exceeded my expectations. It was on par with what I would expect back home in the US from a high-end establishment... More

Another beautiful Bawa design, built-into the side of a large rock, and overlooking a tank (resevoir) and jungle. The swimming pools are extraordinary, and a real highlight: kept scrupulously clean all day. The restaurant is excellent, and sitting outside in the evening is extremely atmospheric. Bedrooms are less impressive than the common areas, and the Siguriya wing is the one... More

This is one of the most magnificent hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel has been built seamlessly into the awe inspiring natural landscape. The architect is the ingenious Geoffrey Bawa who has been described as Sri Lanka's greatest architect. The hotel has 3 pools but we only swam in the infinity pool whose edge blends naturally with the... More

Just spent two wonderful days in this hotel. Tucked in a fairly remote location and accessible by it's own dirt road but not too far from the cave temples. The hotel is situated by a lake and has a unique eco feel blending with the greens and built into a hill. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with a... More
