We apparently did it backwards of most people visiting Machu Picchu. We took the early train from Ollantaytambo, went to the ruins, stayed overnight in Aguas Calientes and left on a late morning train the next day. We booked our rooms a month or so in advance. Email communication was a little spotty at first and I wasn't too crazy... more

Visited Machu Picchu in October and after reading the reviews, decided to go for the "charming/quaint" factor and booked 2 nights here. The entire set up was charming at first sight but once you're installed in your room - you discover that its dark, cramped, poor finishing (wooden floors/walls had splinters and exposed nails)bathrooms a little dingy with not really... more

We decided to stay in Aguas Calientes one night after hiking the Incan Trail to ensure we had two days to see Machu Picchu in case the weather was bad the first day. We loved our tree house at Rupa-Wasi. The room was nice and clean (we did not have a problem with hot water like I saw in other... more

The rooms are full of mosquitos and very muggy -- there was no fan, which would have been a much appreciated amenity. The walls are paper thin and we were able to hear our neighbors and all the revelry from the tree house restaurant adjoining the hotel well into the night. I did not think that RW was worth the... more

This was the most expensive place that we stayed at during our two-week trip to Peru, and it was the only one where we had problems getting hot water. Typically, this would be no big deal. However, we'd been on the Inca trail for 4 days without showering and were REALLY looking forward to a hot shower. Otherwise no complaints!... more

Well, this hotel/lodge was the best of the trip to Peru. Our main objective was to see Machu Picchu and I found this lodge online. I really had no idea what to experience. We had only been in Peru for 1 day before we arrived at the Rupa Wasi. I don't think our lungs were ready to hike the stairs... more

This lodge is a gem indeed as it is very good value for money. The rooms are freshing and it is a much better decision to stay somewhere like this, especially when visiting Machu Picchu, rather than a generic hotel. They serve scrumptious food in their restaurant, and although at western prices, you are in a for a treat if... more

My husband and I stayed in Rupa Wasi for 1 night after spending 4 days on the Inka Trail. Before we arrived, we had read some of the other reviews on Trip Advisor of the other hotels, and decided on booking a smaller more quaint lodge that seemed to really care about protecting the environment. Upon on arrival, we met... more

Like most people, we went to Agua Caliente for the sole purpose of seeing Machu Picchu. It is a tourist oriented town that provides all the services and we found it quite pleasant. Rupa Wasi provides adequate rooms. The beds are comfortable and yes, the showers go from steaming hot to iceberg cold in the blink of an eye and... more

A friend and I stayed at the Rupa Wasi following a 7day trek. The hotel was quite, clean and easy walking distance to any of the shops/restauarants. The staff was very nice and even let us use a room to shower after hiking and coming back past checkout. The breakfast was yogurt, bread, and fresh fruit, not extremely fancy but... more
