Yikes, no bed bugs for us! We stayed in spartan but clean private rooms for $11 each. I went here with my two young adult children. They hiked the volcano while I got a guided tour of the nearby petroglyphs ($5). Howler monkeys within sight of the porch. The most beautiful place I visited in Nica.

You've gotta go here. It's paradise. I may have gotten bedbugs, but I don't really care. The coffee tour was fascinating. The guide was informative. The coffee itself was out of this world. Do not hesitate to go to Finca Magdalena. But bring your own sheets.

If you need a very confortable place with western comfort and food, don't go to Finca Magdalena, go to an American resort on Santo Domingo Playa. I have stayed at this lodge many times with groups ranging from just a couple to 15. Amiable service and decent food for the price. Very nice location for those traveling on budget. Beautiful sunset and accessible / convenient trail for those who want to tackle the Maderas Volcano

Cooperative farm in Nicaragua. There are not very many places to eat localy in the island. Service could improve but it is a farm so who cares for that price! Go up the volcano, it is amasing!
