Stayed here 2 nights. The hotel feels quite old . Hallways are dark and dismal and have a strange smell(?mildew). Nak hotel was a real refreshing treat after touring most of Sandakan. It stands out from the neighboring buildings with its reds and its grandiose decor, remarkably so without looking pretentious. I personally liked the place for it's quirky character, but there were too many setbacks for me to stay again. I echo the comments made by eriktera. The rooms are shabby, especially the windows and the bathrooms. Although it is relatively cheap, it was still incredibly dated hotel. Breakfast was okay, and as others have commented, the roof bar (where breakfast is served) has a fantastic view over the ocean. I would perhaps recommend a 1 - 2 night stay... more
