This is DEFINITELY the highlight of my trip to Kenya. How often do you get to hang out with the animals in their natural habitat? Well The Ark gives you that unique and priceless opportunity!! The staff have deep knowledge about the animals and were very accommodating to our curious questions. I LOVE the buzzer system that made sure we... More

The Ark is a charming place to be where you can get up and close to the animals that come to eat the salty earth and drink at the waterhole. Thwe rooms are nothing special, but as you will only be in your room to sleep this doesnt matter. During daylight there are good possibilities of thating a walk on... More

It has been most frustrating! For more than 2 weeks already have I been trying to find out about room availability and gameviewing facilities at Ark as well as Treetops, i.e. somewhere within the Aberdare Park. I wrote to the hotel directly - no response. I then involved 4 different travel agents (1 in UK, 1 in S.A., 2 in... More

The highlight of our trip. The Ark was a memorable experience. Great place to see animals collect at the watering hole. Excellent food. Very professional staff. The layout of the ark is excellent with opportunities to view and take photos across 4 decks. the Aberdare National park is also a different experience from the Masai Mara and definitely worth an... This accommodation is all about the location overlooking a watering hole in the Aberdare National Park, Kenya looking at the wildlife. You will see elephant, hiena, warthog, buffalo. The hotel is very basic & clean, 1 night is enough, you must stay here when travelling in this part of Kenya. The food in the resturant is outstanding, the best steak... More

July 2010...Looks great on approach and quite the majestic ark. We had a wonderful lunch at the Aberdare Country Club...maybe the shock was just too much when we reached the Ark. We kept stressing to our travel agent that we wanted to stay at the Ark, although she suggested staying elsewhere. When we got to our rooms we knew why!... More

When you first arrive here , you drive up through heavily forested grounds and then The Ark appears on your right through the trees. Quite magical and very different. When you get to the venue, at first it appears trapped in the 70's, however embrace it and you will enjoy. Rooms are extremely small, but beds are comfy and you... More

Great location however you are bused in and then you are there with these people all night! Viewing platforms are good however the rooms are very basic but can cope with that. Its dinner time when there is a mad rush and all seems a bit like school dinners. All people que and all a bit rushed. I guess a... More

I had read the reviews of The Ark and knew what to expect. It is indeed very rustic. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. The animal viewing is good and there are multiple places where you can go to watch the animals. There is a buzzer system in the room to be used at night for animal spotting,... More

Is it called the ark because the animals arrive 2 by 2? That was my theory but it's called the Ark because it looks like 'the ark' ( although I haven't seen the ark but will have to take everyone's word for it). Yes, you are taken to the Aberdares Country Club, which is lovely, perched on the hill overlooking... More
