Well, There not much to say, but just the best please to stay and relax at Samosir island. Very nice spot, nice euro rooms, VERY clean, hot water, very nice view directly to lake, nice terrace, quiet, friendly staff, very nice owner, nice people around, magic environment! To my understanding it is all because the European owner. The locals can't... More

We had the upper floor room for Rp 80, 000 a night. A private balcony, King-sized bed (good mattress), a cupboard, 2 chairs and a coffee table were provided. There was a floor lamp but it wasn't working. The balcony has a very a nice view, overlooking the lake, so you can watch the sunrise/sunset, sitting in low rattan chairs... More

Can't recommend Romlan enough to anyone looking for the perfect spot to stay on Lake Toba. The rooms, whilst not the fanciest looking you'll ever see, do the job and are an absolute bargain with great balconies overlooking the lake. The comfy furniture and the amazing view makes it pretty difficult to drag yourself away. The food was excellent, as... More

Just returned from a great few days at Lake Toba where we stayed at Romlan. A great place on the edge of Tuk Tuk on Samosir Island, Romlan is a great spot - very friends staff and good service, fantastic lake views, good location away from the main area of accommodation on the island, and our rooms were a 1... Romlan, owned by a German woman (Marion), is maybe the best value-for-money place in Tuk-Tuk. The rooms are really cheap. Not to be misunderstood: Cheap - but really nice! The place is wonderful, the rooms simple, but clean, the view and the access to the lake almost perfect, the cuisine very, very good. The access from the land side is quite... More

After a week in the jungle, walking in to this place was pure bliss! There are actually two room sizes. The large room I looked at was incredible -- really big, clean, and awesome balcony facing the lake. The smaller room (#18) did not feel like much of a downgrade and for $6.75/night, I took it. It's slightly smaller and... More

Romlan had excellent rooms (except the water wasn't working), very comfortable sheets and blankets, and an excellent spot for swimming at Lake Toba. They had plenty of deck chairs and the water around the guesthouse was clean and refreshing. The balcony looked out to the lake and was perfect. Staff were aloof at first, but were helpful. Owner Marion was... More

Imagine with only Rp 70 to 80.000 rupiah pernight, (about 8-9 USD), you stay in a unique traditional house equipped with hot shower and western toilet, located in a small idyllic island in the center of Lake Toba. All you hear when you sleep at night is the sound of small waves from that stunningly beautiful lake. In the morning... More

Good value at 100.000Rp a night (no breakfast included) but previous reviews had people paying 7euro/night. Did not find that out until I checked in. Still, it was good value with a super clean room, comfortable bed, free wifi, great food and superb view of the lake. It is also a very quiet and peaceful place where you can just... More

We just spent a month in Sumatra with our 2 children aged 4 and 7 years. Roman's was a perfect place to unwind and just hang out. We had 2 rooms that had an internal connecting door. This was great and the first time we had seen this in Sumatra, it gave us a little more space and privacy. The... More
