Today 21.12.2011 I tried to check in. I got a room, which was not cleaned, full of trash. When looking in the bath room, I saw cockcroach on the floor. I did not stay in this hotel. I wonder, how this hotel can have gotten ISO 9001 certification. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Another reviewer called it a 'tired old lady' and that about sums it up. Clean and comfortable with reasonable breakfast but I'm happy we only paid half the rack rate. It is close to the Friendship Bridge but well out of town.

Two words only describe my view of this hotel - extremely disapointing! From the moment I checked in I wanted to check out and having pondered my quarry for the one night stay I agreed to, I'm sorry I didn't. If this is a Holiday Inn then they have some serious explaining to do. The numerous web sites that promote... More

We had a junior suite with really great views, all lights and fixtures were working properly and room, bathroom and bed were all clean at a very acceptable level. Ok, the curtains are in urgent need of a good cleaning (I thought it was a kinda floral pattern, however my wife pointed out to me it was just plain dirty.... More

It may once have been 'Royal' and it may once have been a grand place given it's location but this building has been let go and is crumbling around the managements ears. In travelling the world for 40 years I do not think I have seen filthier carpets than in here. There should be a sign that says 'Please wipe... More

This was my second time at the hotel in six months (two trips to Thailand from Australia).. I was travelling with a Thai national each time . I think most people are expecting "Western " type hotels with everything laid on - tea and coffee making facilities, 24 hour room service etc. This is Thailand, not the Western World.. The... More

One of those concrete bunkers that were built in the 90s and has become derelict already. The initial investment done, nothing seems to be posible anymore. The hotel is in need of a few tons of paint. The furniture is designed to look impressive, not for practicality. The hotel has a musty smell of wet concrete. The first room we were... More

This was my third stay at the Royal Mekong; any connection to Holiday Inn must have been in the distant past by the way. The rooms are huge and clean. The bathroom is clean and water is usually hot. TV is terrible; one English channel and it's a shocker. Pool is huge. That's the good bit folks. Breakfast is perhaps... More

Mekong Royal Nong Khai is quite ok for the money. Stayed for only one night, the Hotel is typical Thai standard for away from the usual farang (foreigner) tourist route. Large, slight musty smell, the usual grande foyer, and the rest is OK. I give it's dues, the room swere quite good, large and everything worked ok, hot water was... More
