I came here after a bunch of other guests had recommended this property wholeheartedly, and they were right. While the rooms are nothing special, the price seemed right (Rs 700-900, depending on size), breakfast was simple but enjoyable, and the manager (this might actually be a different guy from the one others has complained about since he hasn't been working... The location of the cottages is just awesome.Loved It. Probably one of the best places in Munnar in terms of location. The rooms however are basic. No fan in the room and no shower in bathroom. Running hot & cold water was available though. Also rooms are not very bright but that got compensated by the excellent dining space we... More

Probably this cottage is one of the best places in India to have a breakfast. It is situated among the tea plantations and the view is amazing. However, the rooms are below the average, they are small, gloomy and highly overpriced. Moreover, it was very cold in the rooms in the end of December. P.S. Breakfast is not included in... More

Our first impressions were really good. Views are fantastic and you really are in the middle of the plantations. The rooms are basic, bucket hot water and probably not the cleanest but this didn't really phase us too much, it is lower end of scale for cost. However it was the manager (not owner, although I think his tactics were... More

Lovely Zina (Zeena) Cottages is picturesquely located in the middle of tea plantations just outside Munnar (2 km). The guys running the place were very friendly end helpful and provided extra sheets and blankets when we asked. No shower but hot water from the bucket 24/7. We were served tea and coffee and breakfast in the small garden with amazing... More

We booked this dump because it had a listing in the Rough Guide. Awful place! Location is ok at the most but the rooms are terrible and the manager just as bad. He even managed to call us liars for not having booked. Probably he had found some idiots he could even rip-of more. We ended up staying just down... More

We didnt understand why this is the top pick in lonely planet. The view is very nice but the rooms are not very comfortable and very humid. The owner is a sweet old man but talks a lot.

Some guests staying in Joseph Iype's rooms have suffered from allergies, and have even been seriously sick. The location is very scenic, but the rooms are over-priced considering the serious problems with water, electricity, heating and distance to restaurants etc. Joseph is over 80 years old and has great difficulties running the place. The place may already be closed to... More

I wish I had read this forum before going to Munnar. Read about Zina in Lonely Planet, whose recommendations I will take with an ocean of salt from now on. We took a quick glance at the available rooms, and decided to stay, despite feeling like the rooms were sort of dark and dank, because the location is right in... More

The owner Joseph was really nice and helpful. Really makes the place and also decent views of plantations. Bad points are basic rooms (but at under 1,000 what you expect I guess). Worst part is the bathroom. No shower (bucket bath only) and hot water only from 7am to 9am. Also used toilet tissues need to be put in separate... More
