We stayed 2 nights here and we left feeling sad as we had such a lovely stay. The hospitality showed to us by Nitya and her staff was exquisite. Her food was delicious and nothing was too much. She cooked it the way we requested. Yes the place is in need of some changes but that was all part of... More

Old country house hotel with a long memory Victorians: shame about the conservation status of the rooms and furniture. Large rooms with bed essential and dim light. Bathroom with poor function and cleanliness. Very warm welcome and hospitality by owners with food, simple but very good. Great courtesy; temples still deserve the break.

We arrived in the dark and left before dawn so did not get a chance to really see the place. However, the dinner was very good and just what was needed after a long drive. The pre-dawn coffee and toast set us up for the big climb. Our bedroom was huge and cold and the bathroom, across an open "courtyard"... More

Vijay Vilas is a nice old palace on a great location if you plan to walk the temple trail. The owner and staff are friendly. The food is amazing. Nothing is to much asked. Food, drinking water, coffee and tea, all complementary any time in the day. Rooms could be much nicer though, with better beds/mattresses and mosquito nets. I... More

The drive to the country lane up to the palace was nice. From then on it was downwards: we were greeted in a gloomy, dark and dirty entrance hall. After a hesitant check-in we were shown a double bedroom: one bed with a lumpy mattress on planks and the other on a bed frame made with chicken wire. The toiled... More

The Feel of a King with his Queen leasuring around the great palace with nothing to do accept admiring his own greatness in buliding this huge and beautiful place to live in. The Experience of staying in this property was just majestic, although the palace is not that well maintained but for me that was the main highlight, the Blackish... More

Hi, as some of you are saying that you should expect a home stay rather than a Palace............that is true! We walked down from the temples and went to VVP for lunch and did not really have the chance to spend a night there. We did take a look around their rooms and they do feel more like a simple... More

I have travelled a lot in India, and stayed in a lot of different styles of accomodation but I was very dissapointed with Vijay Vilas. The owner is very pleasant young guy (didnt see his partner) but the whole place had a sad run down look and feel to it, starting with the old ruin of a car parked outside... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in 3 rooms in January 2011. The location near Palitana is excellent, and the young couple who run the Vijay Vilas Palace make you feel very welcome in their home. When we told our hostess that we liked spicy, vegetarian food, the kitchen prepared memorable meals made from family recipes - so delicious that... More

It is hard to review a place like this as so much is personal experience and hospitality. First of all, it is not a place that attracts Indians, including NRIs. They go to local dharmsalas for the climb up to Mount Shatrunjaya and the spectacular Jain temple city. There also happens to be Sufi Dharga there of the Sufi Peer... More
