We have just returned from a weekend at the Desaret in Ohrid. The hotel itself is about 7 miles from Ohrid town which is not ideal for a leisurely stroll from dinner however if you are looking for a quiet relaxing lakeside retreat then this is an ideal place.

The service is friendly, in particular the manager George who will do his utmost to accomodate - inlcuding letting us bring our very big dog (as long as he was well behaved). Our accomodation was 2 junior suites next door to one another. The furnishings are traditional soviet style but the rooms are large and clean, just in need of some updating to European standards. Breakfast was included in our stay and was also better than some other hotels in the area but not brilliant.

We would reccomend going into Ohrid itself for an evening meal. Check out some of the places in the old town right on the lake with chill out music and reasonable food.
