Spent 2 nights at Ali Shungu whilst visiting Otavalo. The main reason for going to Otavalo was to see the markets and the hotel is situated easy walking distance. I loved the authentic decorations and the welcoming restaurant with fire for the cold nights and the pretty garden with some colourful birds. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel. more

Our three nights at this small inn and restaurant were quiet and comfortable in a heated room overlooking bird-filled gardens. We have visited Ecuador on several occasions, and my first request is always that we include Otavalo so that I can stay at the Ali Shungu and visit the renowned Indian market. Loved this hotel. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. Beautiful courtyard with interesting birds. Restaurant on site with good food. it was a little more expensive but I would stay here again for sure. The market stalls are set up a short walk away from the hotel. Service was really good. more

There are tons of hostels in Otavalo, but if you want a but more quiet and comfort, this is the best choice. It is a few blocks from the market. It has space heaters in the rooms.
