The Bivou is a real hiddden gem! A boutique hotel in a class of its own! From the moment you enter you feel like you entered your own little palace. The staff make you feel really welcome. They have a lot of amazing ideas from trekking to cycling off the beaten track in the beautiful landscape and other tips to... More

The Bivou must be the best place to stay in Lijiang. Its in shuhe away from the noise of city but has a maze of streets that make for excellent wandering. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Also I cannot forget to mention the breakfasts were some of the... More

Hello Lotwell, thank you for your great review and it was lovely having you around with us! We do indeed appreciate our location - away from the hubbub of Dayan (the "Old City" of Lijiang) but still at the very heart of the even more ancient town of Shuhe (itself within the UNESCO World Heritage designated zone). As you have... More

Friendly and very warm welcome. Rooms are well equipped and they even provided a baby bed for our Child. Great place to stay a bit away from the very touristic center. There is a menu for warm breakfast but the choice was made for us....

Dear SoMaSH, thank you for your lovely review. We do indeed pride ourselves in being a family-friendly destination for travelers as we do understand the many challenges faced by many of today's young couples when choosing a place to stay. We've always felt that Lijiang's amazing cultural diversity, natural beauty and varied entertainments give it a broad appeal to all... More

I stayed at The Bivou during the Easter holidays after seeing the reviews on TripAdvisor. Before arriving I was impressed with the efficiency and helpfulness of Hwee Ling's e mails, in particular, when helping me organise a female guide for my solo TLG hike which I certainly could not have arranged alone from overseas! On arrival we were welcomed and... More

As you've mentioned in your review, we do very much see our role as your "family away from home" and strive to give visitors a true... More

I just led a 6-day photography workshop based out of The Bivou, so I'm not unbiased in this review. Nevertheless, it was my first time here, and with the workshops I do, I'm highly critical of comfort, service and so on. When participants are travelling from as far as London, Moscow and Jakarta, everything really does have to be right.... More

Thank you Michael for your encouraging review! Indeed, it has been not only a great pleasure, but a real privilege for us here at The Bivou to have hosted your workshop. Though the role we played was but a supporting one, we were able to learn so much not only about photography, but also the history and culture of the... More

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Bivou. I don't think I will enjoy Shuhe / Lijiang as much without The Bivou. The room is clean and comfortable, and the manager Hwee Ling is extremely helpful, she is willing to run the extra mile for any guest. I have stayed at the Bayan Tree, Lijiang 2 years ago, it... The Bivou lives up to all the raves and more. We stayed at the three storey Villa and would have stayed far longer if we could! It was'nt just the rustic, archaic charm of the Shuher old town with its cobbled streets, horse and carriage and natives selling their daily fare. The Bivou is efficiently run with caring attention to... More

The Bivou is located in Suhe town which is about a 15 minutes taxi ride from the main city and about 60 minutes from Lijiang airport. It is a quaint little boutique hotel not visible from the main street of Suhe town. As taxis and mainstream vehicles were not allowed in Suhe town, we alighted at a car park just... More

My family and I just came back from a 6D5N stay in The Bivou, which was situated in ShuHe Old Town. Initially, we thought it was rather far away from the main town area (Dayan Old Town), but we grew to love the location! You would not want to stay in Dayan Old Town because it is very noisy and... Situated in the heart of the gorgeous town of Shuhe in Lijiang, The Bivou was an unforgettable experience that brilliantly married antiquity with modernity. The hotel is born from a refurbished farmhouse and retains every bit of its traditional flavour without sacrificing any luxury. Upon arrival, we were treated to a spectacle of a view, with the snow-capped peaks of... More
