The owner and the manager of the Sanctuary have treated us like family every time we come to Battambang, which is usually twice a year. Courteous, polite, wanting to help, and earnest are their trademarks. Sometimes trainees do show their inexperience, but always in the most gentle manner. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Battambang.

This is a small querky property, which probably merits the description "boutique". It is not luxury to western standards, but it tries hard. The service was well meaning but amateurish. The Sanctuary Villas are located on the edge of the colonial town of Battambang. There are only about 8 rooms so it is an intimate resort with a lovely pool and a nice little restaurant. Great hotel with a number of spacious, luxurious bungalows set in a beautiful garden, 5 minutes walk from the central market in quiet area. Beutiful rooms, nice pool and restaurant (very quiet in the evenings, so for meals we went into town).
