We enjoyed our stay at Casa 579. The breakfast was yummy and the staff very helpful. Gave us lots of tips and made our stay in Rio easier. We felt safe in Santa Theresa and enjoyed walking the streets from the local restaurants back to the Casa at night.

Man what a waste of money. Casa 579 is a hostel in an old rundown house owned by an absent British lady and managed by foreigners. Brilliant location in Sant Theresa. Transport links very good kombi and bus. Breakfast fantastic - fresh cake baked each day, real fruit juice. Very helpful and knowledgeabe hosts. Views of sugar loaf and Christ the Redeemer from lounge.

Stayed one night in late Sept. 2011. Nice place, reasonable breakfast, and very helpful staff. the room and bath were clean and no issue.
