This is a B&B so do not expect an hotel . The room we had ( the Music Room ) was big , nice , clean and quiet . The breakfast was excellent . It is a buffet type of serving and it had a good choice of cold meat , cereals , fruits , juices , pastries and bread... More

The building itself was obviously at one time beautiful. It now has the appearance of a rather run down hostel. We were taken to a room round the back of the hotel, past what can only be described as a building site. The area was dirty and unkempt. The room was large but the walls were dirty and the bathroom... More

The building is an old beautiful antique villa in St Theresa. Walking distance to Lapa about 15 min. It's very clean, beautifully renovated and has a lot of charme. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was almost luxury. Breakfast is stunning! Fresh juices, scrumbled eggs...served in a colorful lightfull space. The Service isn't the best but you... More

We stayed in room nr. 1, very spacious lovely room on the top floor of the house with it's own creaky spiral staircase. The view over the city at night is very pretty. Breakfast is the same as all Rio breakfasts of fruit, cereal and toast with ham and cheese or jam. The coffee was good but the fruit juice... More

PROS: We were placed in an annex in the garden and not in the main building. Clean, modern room with its own little patio. Service minded, English spoken receptionist who lent us towels on our last day and let us linger by the pool all day despite having checked out. CONS: Two sun chairs in total, which seemed totally mad.... More

My husband and I stayed at Casa Mangomango for five nights in January 2012, beginning a month long trip around South America. We are a young couple and when we go away we don't expect much from hotel rooms (after all - who goes away to spend all their time in a hotel?) so really, a hotel for us is... More

It was our first stay in Santa Teresa. I chose this pousada because of reasonable price, good opinions on Tripadvisor and very professional e-mail correspondence with the staff. We asked for an airport pick-up and the taxi driver was waiting for us. He charged the price agreed before in e-mail (R$ 75), even though he had to wait a bit... More

...all is not what it seems! I arrived a solo female traveller, first time in Brazil and was met by a seemingly nice receptionist woman called Sid. I was shown to room 7 (Dona Maria) which is in the basement where there is no glass in the window, only shutters and iron bars, thus the room was dark and sparse... More

After some problems with accomodation in Rio, this place really made our stay. The staff are fantastic and it is a beautiful old place - Santa Theresa is a great neighbourhood. We stayed here three times during a trip to Brazil in different rooms and also the dorms. Very clean and incredible breakfasts. They also organise some great tours and... More
