I found Hotel Americano at the last minute during my trip to Rio. Property is on a somewhat rough back street, but I had no problems with anyone. The neighborhood is a dumpster; all streets are covered by trash; the hotel does not have dinning room or elevator; is not really a hotel in the sense of the word; anyways they have free wifi, the underground is close and if really do not have enough money is a blessing finding where to stay. The staff was really friendly.
