If you are expecting a fancy hotel, you will be disappointed. On the other hand, if you appreciate being slightly off the beaten path, in a lovely zen-like environment, Villa Laurinda is the place for you. It provides a unique, historic-feeling colonial home, in a quiet location at a reasonable price. The breakfast was delicious, the room clean and comfortable,... More

The best place to stay in Rio! I've been living in Europe for about five years and I got used to the european standards. Vl. Laurinda not only offers these standards as it also delivers the brazilian charming and sympathetic service. Overall the B&B is extremely clean and comfortable. It has an unique design and awesome location: It's located nearby... More

a great place in rio- we will defently come again! our morning startet with a nice breakfast on the balcony with fresh fruits, caffe, juice, self made cake and everything you can wish for. the location is in the heart of santa teresa, the lovely artistic suburb of rio. it is very easy to get around, just take to historical... We booked Villa Laurinda 3 weeks in advance and paid the 50% deposit via Paypal as requested. The day before we arrived in Rio, after travelling around Brasilia and looking forward to a relaxing weekend before flying home, we received an email from their admin informing us they had over booked. After many emails they eventually found us alternative accommodation.... More

In our still short existence of 3 years, we only had two overbookings... Guests cannot understand it, and I agree that it is not their problem, but overbookings might happen when there are two parallel bookings, quite at the same time done through the web agencies with whom hotels and B&Bs generally work in collaboration with, such as Venere, Late... Is important to remember that there's a difference between a B&B and a hotel. After the managers leave at 5.00 pm you are pretty much on you own, and oh yes - there's a family living downstairs, so keep it down at night. With that said, Villa Laurinda is charming and nice B&B in Santa Teresa, an area that seems... More

We stayed here for four nights in two double rooms, with a shared bathroom across the hall. The rooms were adequately sized, but not spacious, with very comfortable beds and lovely shuttered windows. The whole building was beautiful, inside and out, if a little crumbly in places (in a charming way). The shower room was well appointed, and always clean.... More

This villa located in the older city of Santa Teresa is a short ride to the Tijuca National Park and to the Copacaban/Ipanema beaches. Although the villa is dated, it is well maintained. Regina, the manager, is charming and very accommodating to her guests. She is also fluent in English. The breakfasts are outstanding, with fresh fruits, juices, bakery goods... More

We spent 3 nights here and it was a really pleasant experience in interesting Santa Teresa. It's nice and quiet and you can come and go as you please. Breakfasts were good and the room and facilities were great. Likewise the swimming and patio/bar area were a nice touch, and most of the time we had the swimming pool all... More

Very nice colonial house with a large swimming pool in a historical district of Rio. The young woman who welcomes us spoke perfect English, which is a real plus, but it seems there is nobody anymore after 5 pm ! We had a nicely decorated room separated from the main house, with a very original/modern bathroom (the pictures on the... More

Very relaxing, this pousada is an oasis in the middle of Rio. Our room was beautiful and clean, the house is amazing and we loved spending time in the pool. Staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable - they gave us great tips on what to do and where to eat. We just loved it all!
