For a pretty expensive and exclusive place, the TV, Wi-Fi and air con had problems. Because of the last, I slept with the windows open. I am still not sure where they came from, as the bites were strange and lasted for much longer than a normal mosquito's. Maybe they were in the bed. Totally not worth it.

We stayed 3 nights at Pousada Sandi and enjoyed the experience, as it was an experience. The Pousada is a converted boarding school in the Heritage Section of Paraty. The lobby, bar and restaurant which is separately managed were very comfortable and inviting with funky movie star memorablia on the walls. Now I will say Pousada Sandi may not be... More

Reading some of the reviews from previous reviewers I felt that we must have been staying at a different pousada. I thought that it was excellent - a superb location with comfortable rooms, a lovely pool and great breakfasts. The staff on reception answered all our queries and when I asked for some string which I needed for my suitcase... More

If you like damp, musty and moldy hotels, this is the place for you. Had I not been wise enough to come with my anithistimines and inhalers, I would not have survived here. We left this morning after three nights and now are staying in a Rio hotel, where I can breathe again, not look at moldy walls, pictures, upholstery.... More

We stayed here for New Year which was a minimum 4 night stay and incredibly expensive BUT all of Brazil seemed to be the same and if you're going to stay in Paraty this is the place to stay. Located right in the centre of the charming cobbled town you couldn't be in a better setting. The overall style of... More

This is a charming hotel in Paraty with nice helpful staff who got up early so we could have a proper breakfast even though we were leaving at the crack of dawn. No flask of coffee for us, they made sure of that. Paraty is a beautiful town with everything from wild life to boats and old cultural buildings. The... More

Loved the Sandi. In an ideal position close to everything in the village. I know it is over the top with nick nacks everywhere and clashing colours but I just loved its quirkiness. It did feel loved, although a little battered round the edges. We had a lovely room, with large comfortable bed and separate sitting area. Breakfast was good... More

My wife and I travelled to Paraty recently with our five month old son, my wife’s brother and his wife, who is Brazilian. We chose the Pousado do Sandi based on Trip Advisor reviews and it turned out to be a great choice. For me, this hotel is on the bubble between three and four stars. I decided on four... More

Beautifully decorated, nicely maintained, centrally located and comfortable. Breakfast room bright and cheery, great assortment of melon and fresh fruit, delicious pastry and good coffee. Extremely cordial and helpful front desk, very knowledgeable and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay here.
