This hotel is beautiful, located next to the Presidential official residency - Palácio da Alvorada. It is a bit far from downtown Brasília. There are regular van rides to the center. I have stayed at this hotel many times in the last months. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, very good breakfast and restaurant, very good gym, friendly and helpful staff, beautifully located on the Paranoá lakeshore. It's just a bit far from downtown, so you'd probably need a car or taxi to go to the city main spots.

I would recommend paying slightly more and staying at the Royal Tulip in the same complex. It is much nicer. The Golden Tulip has a very dreary atmosphere. Hotel is far from city center and there will be increased costs with transportation. These extra costs can be compensated by the lower rates compared to other hotels in Brasilia (at least for me with a corporate rate).
