This is my favorite place to stay in Salvador. Location is perfect if you want to see culture, great architecture, beautiful views and it is easy to get to Elevador Lacerda (Lacerda Elevator) and also to Mercado Modelo. Rooms are nice, breakfast is delicious and staff is really friendly and helpful.

We stayed in one of the private doubles. The room was not beautiful, but it was clean enough and the A/C worked well. Most importantly, the location is perfect for Salvador. The staff is super friendly and helps you make plans. They have a board they update daily listing events and concerts. There was some street noise at some times,... More

This hostel is in a great location in the historic part of Salvador in terms of sightseeing; the only downside of his is that it is opposite the school of music and what are they good at musically in Brazil? Yep, drumming! So beware that this goes on day and night therefore earplugs are definitely in order. Otherwise I had... More

We stayed at Larenjeiras Hostel for 1 week over Carnaval 2011. The hostel is well located in Pelourino and has very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are ok - very noisy during Carnaval but where isn't. We had a private double with A/C- it was reasonably clean, the bathroom a little grotty. Hot water worked sporadically but not so much... Stayed here with my girlfried for 4 night! We had booked the double private room! It was a great room with a nice shower and it was clean. There was a hammock inside the room. There was free wifi and the staff was kind, although not all of them spoke english that well. Breakfeast was really nice also. It was... More

This could be a really good place to stay in Salvador. Rooms a small, but nice, personal is very gentle, there is also a bar inside (but the bar closes very early... after 9-10 PM there is only beer, coke, an water to drink... no more cocktails or somthing to eat). But the really bad point is the breakfast. I... More

I booked this hostel as it was rated so highly on tripadvisor and hostelworld but when we arrived there I couldn't see why, The staff were extremely unhelpful and unfriendly and we generally felt like we were putting them out by being there. The room was a good size but very noisy, we slept terribly 3 nights in a row... More

We are taking care of all these complaints about Laranjeiras Hostel. Unfortunatelly this guest didn´t look for help during his stay at the hostel, we would have changed him to another room and talked about the staff that is usually very praised. We have a program of insect control in accordance with Hostelling International standards and if any evidence is... More

This was the first place I stayed in Brazil, back in 2007. The staff were really helpful, especially as I couldn't speak any portuguese. I found it to be a very friendly place, the amenities and surroundings were excellent for the needs of a traveller. Nice areas to chill out, share a beer with a friend or surf the net.... More

We stayed at larangerias at double bed with attached bath. The room was big and comfortable. It was bang in the historic center, so it was easy for us walk around to places. For the rate, you cannot go wrong. My research showed me the other hotels near the center were more expensive. The food was great too, no complaints... More

Laranjeiras Hostel is one of the best hostels I've stayed at. Aside from the amazing central location in downtown Pelourinho, Laranjeiras is set in a beautiful colonial building with a friendly vibe. The space is airy with lots of common areas to meet other travelers. Little touches like hammocks, board games and warm lighting make the place extra inviting. And... More
