Was in Austin for a meeting at this hotel. A historic landmark, updated into a very nice hotel. Just a couple of blocks away from the Texas State Capitol and a few more from the University of Texas. I found a Starbucks (always a nicety) two blocks down the road, along with a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Would definitely stay here... More

Intercontinental Austin To me, this hotel is the epitome of Texas hospitality. Beautiful, historical building. Great customer service especially from the Concierge desk with their excellent recommendations. Room was very well appointed and tastefully decorated with some southern charm. Some people will be dissapointed by the old school TVs - not something you would expect from an InterContinental. Super clean,... More

Got a room here from Expedia Unpublished rate deal. Never stayed here before. Great location for downtown. The room was a handicap access so it was spacious. Excellent staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and extremely competent in their roles. I would stay here again even at the regular price. As a plus there is a great bar on the second floor. More

Stayed in executive suite for five nights--elegant, comfortable and large room. The bar restaurant on first floor has delicious, well prepared food. Hamburgers are out of this world. Only detraction is the room furnishings are just a tad dated. TV was circa 1980. What's with that?! More

The only part about this hotel that made it feel like an "Intercontinental" was the linens. The beds were among the most comfortable I've experienced. That said, the hotel still has old tube TV's in their rooms...something you would be hard-pressed to find at a Hampton Inn, much less this high-end brand. The location is perfect...a few short blocks to... More

Although we live in Austin, my wife and I spent her birthday downtown to have a nice dinner and drinks. The SFA Intercontinental was perfect all the way around (location, amenities, cleanliness, and staff attentiveness). We could easily walk 1.5 blocks to have dinner at Ruth's Chris, and then breakfast at the Driskill across the street the next morning. The... More

I visited friends in Austin over the holidays, we decided to hit up this place for some jazz and its lovely outdoor terrace dining. The terrace has a great view of the capitol amd downtown. The jazz, was uber-lounge singer slow and almost an SNL parody of a cocktail lounge. Fortunately sitting outside we didnt have to listen. The outside... More

The Stephen F. Austin is a 4 star hotel on 7th and Congress in Austin. It is within a block of all the bars and restaurants downtown. The hotel has all the luxury and beauty you expect from a 4 star hotel. In this area you are basically limited to a choose of 4 hotel in this class. 2 of... More

The location of this hotel is great, but the atmosphere is mediocre at best. Rooms are standard, certainly not luxurious, so relative luxury of bathroom was kind of mysterious. Did not care for the "restoration" of this historic property, which was ugly. The carpet next to the bed had a large patch of old gum stuck to it, and the... More
