We stayed for 3 nights at the Austin Motel in room 117. This room is exactly as it is in the pictures on the website, it was clean and the bed was so soft and comfortable. The locations is perfect for those wanting a funky look at Austin, Güero’s Taco Bar is just up the street and is a must... more

If your a think outside the box kindof person who loves adventure, good music and fabulous food, check out the Austin Motel on South Congress in the SoCo part of Austin. Each quirky, fun room has its' own special theme. Okay, the room in the older section, are tiny, but you won't spend much time in your room in this... more

Skip the stay and enjoy the fun sign and history by walking by. One of the 2 beds in our room (#148) had a huge dip in it on one side and was so uneven you'd have to make an effort to stay on one side or risk rolling into the sagging void. The shower ran scalding hot and then... more

We booked this hotel for a weekend based upon a friend's recommendation. For $100/night this hotel was perfect! We didn't want to blow all of our money on a sterile, fancy hotel that we'd barely sleep in. Austin Motel has personality, is well-priced, and is well located. Lots of shops, bars, and restaurants to walk to and just a short... more

We booked the hotel after recommendations on Tripadvisor at quite laye notice and managed to book the final 2 rooms available. Although the rooms were quite small by American standards they were more than adequate for a couple to spend a few days in. On checking in the staff were friendly and efficient but seem quite strict for the check... more

We had a great stay at the Austin Motel. I admit, when we pulled up, my husband & son looked at each other then looked at me like I was crazy. It's an old motel. However, it's well-maintained, has a great location & staff, is very clean, & has an interesting history. My family now says it's one of my... more

This hotel was great. We reserved the "Polka Dot Surprise" room it was on the first floor in the rear building. The room was spacious and clean. The tile on the bathroom floor was heated or just warm all the time. Check in was easy and the employees were pleasant. The pool area was nice, we didn't go in though.... more

We were passing through Austin as part of a larger road trip, with the destination being a family reunion on the Texas gulf coast. We had done a fair amount of research on fun and funky lodging along the way, and were very excited about our stop at the famous Austin Motel, a vintage property, located in the hip "SoCo"... more

The Austin Motel is a very cool, different place to stay. Each room is different and has its own style. We stayed in a room with shag bedspreads and polka dotted walls. The pool and location were great. The only problem was the people at the front desk. When we encountered the first rude person, I just figured, everyone has... more

The place was kitchy and oh-so-cool (because, thankfully the air conditioner was kicking as it was in the 90s temp-wise). The price is what draws you, but the cool hip-factor is what keeps you. The rooms were clean, shower water pressure was fine, and even had a small fridge. Coffee was available free in the lobby, but Jo's coffeebar is... more
