The Maverick Inn is a best in class gem. Several of us travel internationally and stay in the best hotels, and the Maverick Inn provides an experience better than most. Very rustic ...more of a motel. The front desk closes at 10pm and they had to leave the key under the mat...did not feel safe with this as a solo female traveler. No hairdryer in the room and since I was on a business trip did not have the time to walk over to the front desk to get one.... more

Very clean and nicely decorated in true West Texas style. The trains are loud, but almost every place in Alpine you can stay is near the tracks, and if you leave the A/C on it helps tone down the noise. Very quiet otherwise.
