Truly our favorite place to stay. Ashland Mountain House is so beautiful - set out of town, with wonderful grounds to walk and relax in. The gardens are always beautiful, but this time (May) they were in full bloom! Just gorgeous! Kathy & John are great hosts, and the breakfasts are delicious. The historic home has been lovingly restored, with... More

My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. We split our four night stay between the Barron room and the Brick House. Both were extremely pleasant and full of unique decoration and personality. We feel so lucky to have found this country haven! If you're going to stay in... More

This beautifully restored home is on the Historic Registry. John and Kathy have done such a wonderful work here right down to having the wallpaper specially made by hand to mimic as closely as possible the original papers. The entire house is furnished in period pieces of furniture. John loves to gives you a tour and tell you about the... More

This was my first time visiting a B&B. I was a skeptical and afraid it would be cheesy. I also hate anything biege or earth-toned. All of this reluctance proved unnecessary, however, since this was better than any hotel I've ever visited. The color scheme was awesome, the decorations were lovely and the bedding was heavenly, with layer after layer... More

It's a beautiful home from the 1880s, restored to the visual appeal of the original home but with all of the modern materials and appliances to keep guests extremely comfortable. About 10 miles from Ashland with beautiful grounds and views, it's peaceful and calming, a charming restorative. We were welcomed by John who showed us around the property and and... More

Looking for a place to stay and take a small break from reality, we found the Ashland Mountain House. We were just amazed and thrilled by the rich history and beauty of the Bed and Breakfast. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our hosts, John and Kathy. They were incredibly warm and welcoming. John gave us a fantastic tour... More

We stayed here for one night on the way home from Portland. Tons of positives: We were in awe of the detail and fantastic restoration the owners had done. We loved the furniture, wallpaper, and painstaking touches that made it really feel like a blast to the past. The grounds are amazing, and the more you wander, the more you'll... More

We've stayed here twice when visiting Ashland. The rooms are beautifully restored and decorated. We've stayed in 3 rooms: the Brick Cottage, the Barron and the Gibbs Room and of those, I liked the Gibbs the best. They did a great job. There are only two drawbacks to the place. First, it is a long, dark 15 minute drive after... More

Historic preservation is my passion, and the Ashland Mountain House is a grand example of working preservation excellence. Once a stagecoach Inn, the Ashland Mountain House still functions as an Inn...a century and a half (and more) later. I doubt the miners had eggs benedict for breakfast though. Maybe they had banana pancakes and walnut butter like I did...no journal... More

We were treated like royalty in this remarkable B&B, rebuilt from the past with love and skill and maintained with care and thoughtfulness. We spent three nights of a long weekend attending performances at the Shakespeare Festival in early-August and returning to the peace of the Mountain House. Set about 8 miles south of town, on a small country road,... More
