We made our reservations at the Ashland, OR Royal Carter House months ago and have been anticipating 3 mornings of waking up to this Inn's version of a wonderful home made breakfast as one can expect from a B&B. We selected this particular B&B because it is in walking distance to the Shakespeare Festival, and has a swimming pool to while away the hot days (as we digest the lovely breakfast). As it happens, the pool has not been cared for for apparently many a year, and there is no cooked breakfast. We were informed that a basket of cold processed food, as one can buy for themselves in any grocery store is delivered to the room the prior evening. If the rooms were very inexpensive, I suppose this would only be a great disappointment. The rooms are not inexpensive. We are paying $169.00/night for a dirty pool and packaged foods. Unless you don't care for the true B&B experience, I would not recommend staying here.......... there are so many great B&B's to choose from... more
