just back from mels hotel.very tired with worn out furniture ,pool was a health risk couldnt see the bottom matting round pool was filthy with dirty sunbeds broken shades and slimey steps. Breakfast very poor apart from the bread. Some staff very friendly .wont go to gumbet again as it is now catering for the younger traveler. more

The hotel had been described as basic, clean and friendly. I found it to be very, very basic, not very clean, extremely shabby and not particularly friendly. Been to Mels every year for the last 7 years. Meet the same people over and over, who also go back every year. Wonderful staff, fantastic location. Good value. Rooms basic (ie no TV, no tea/coffee making facilities, balcony not big enough to sit on) but very clean - cleaners every day, clean towels, sheets, etc. Right on the beach... more
