We went to the Federal Hotel in Bukit Bintang in October 2022. Unfortunately, the Hotel is closed. We were told by the security staff that it would not re open until next year. Has been closed since the recent problems of 2020.

I will not be returning. Rooms are old and dated. Poor maintenance terrible colour scheme, music can be heard on some nights till 2am in the morning from the street corner. High tea was an insult. I shall be sending my photo album and I hope the Managment take heed as this has the capability of being great once more.

We stayed for one night as a couple in a Merdeka Premier Double Room. Location is excellent being within walking distance to the Bukit Bintang Monorail and MRT station. There are numerous restaurants /eateries and bars within walking distance. We had a huge comfortable bed and a large bathroom with heaps of hot water and good pressure. The A/C worked very well. My only issue is the room lighting. It was dark in the corner and the lights were not working. We also had an issue with the key card for the lift. The Staff were polite and professional. Breakfast was amazing with an abundance of food and variety catering to all nationalities. We would recommend and stay again.

We arrived late on 9th February and this was our 2nd stay. Unfortunately Mr Aras did not remember us when I told him we are back..small matter..we are still delighted to be back here again and there was another gentleman who offered us a complimentary hi tea as he noticed that we were all tired and famished. We are very happy with the courtesy called made to our rooms each time we request for items. And its very sweet of the housekeeping staff to place another luggage rack for our luggage that we placed on the floor. How thoughtful! We stayed for 3 nites and all throughout our stay we slept well. Room is comfy and we had hot water for our bath. Towels are changed and room service order was fast too. We shall come back to stay here again and definitely will recommend our frens and family to stay here in this elegant classic hotel.

So we booked this hotel because it was a household name like 50 years ago during my father's childhood. Unfortunately I was not impressed....First off the room was freezing, even considering the AC was switched off and we're in Malaysia. Also the taps would leak so water would get allover the place. Lastly, not sure if it was just our room's location but the walls seemed paper-thin. You could literally hear the bell for the elevator ding every few minutes and water rushing through the pipes, all outside our door. I was only pleased with the concierge who served us and our issues.

As always, Southeast Asia weather is high of humidity.. be prefer for sweating a lot. I've arrived afternoon, and a bit misunderstanding with our Grab driver(write those in your list folk's) need 1hour to reach the hotel. Check in situations need your booking print, passport and pay in cash taxes. Fortunately this is historical hotel in KL and the aircons was super cold. Walk less than 5 minute you'll find alor St, bunch of mall or plaza, RM 10 go to KLCC using grab or 30minute walk from pavilion mall. Must try musangking durian, Mee mamak, chestnuts and nasi lemak. Breakfast was good, but if you get a bit late (breakfast serve at 7-10) ask for spoon yaa. Hehehe My room at 6fl was huge, but since it's facing toward the bukit bintang St, you'll heard music(mix from classic melayu, Indonesian top40 to rock) all night long. Nite live it's easy at alor St.

For this visit I booked through Agoda and was given a Superior Room. The room needed a lots of refurbishment. The condition of the mattress was bad and hotel management should look into this urgently. A good hotel experience starts from the bed. This Superior Room is far behind the standard as a 4 star hotel. Breakfast served was average and service was extremely slow. Such a big coffee house only noticed two waiters were working. The manager who wear a nice tie was just stationed at the cashier counter and make sure everyone paid the bill. Where was the hospitality service ?

Write I must to balance the views of some hotels versus the many new prestigious hotels policy in Kuala Lumpur. I travelled to KL in a family environment with 2 kids in late November 2019. Altogether there were four of us. Trolling through the many well known websites were useless as they were not customer friendly & rigid. With a family of four travelling, many hotels compelled me to get two rooms with exorbitant prices to match. Novotel & Istana are two of them. I then came across this fantastic refurbished Federal Hotel which sits on the west end of Jalan Bukit Bintang, a very well located hotel within the golden triangle. It’s a dated hotel but rooms in the new Merdeka block are wonderfully refurbished. Rooms are considerable larger than new hotels. Around 33sqm. The hotel has a kids pool & an ample sized adult swimming pool to match. Breakfast was served in Kontiki restaurant with loads of yummy local delicacies to try as well as American breakfast too. Must try them! Walk out thru rear entrance takes you to a convenient shopping complex Plaza Low Yat that has everything related to IT & Apple store. Walk out through the front entrance of this hotel is the famous Jalan Bukit Bintang. 200m eastward direction takes you to the busy Pavilion shopping complex & the elitist of hotels located here (JW Marriott or Ritz Carlton). Walking 50m northbound to its next street is the famous Alor street(or known locally as Jalan Alor), which has rows of heavenly food stalls flanking Alor street. Public transport via MRT is a close 250m. In conclusion, this hotel is a ‘must try’ category to check out while in KL.
