The staff of peace house was very helpfull. They helped us get a place in kyoto, and pointed us to sushi place. The hostel is a little hard to find, but so is everything in Japan for us europeans. It was nice to sit on a tatami mat and the whole building was traditionaly japanese with sliding doors and paper... More

i found it awesome. I have to say that is not suitable for those who like hostels that look the same regardless of the country. Here there are many long staying guests, which tell a lot about the cool vibes and the cozzy atmosphere. do not expect corridors with many door and room numbers neither tidy dorms that look like... We only came here because we moved from their hostel in Kyoto (which i only thought was bad because we stayed in the basement room) The living area in this hostel was very gloomy even though they got a 'best atmosphere award', it smelled weird and was not the friendliest of places. Our room which was a 6 bed dorm... More

This was my first hostel that i booked when i arrived in Osaka and im glad i made this choice. It is not the easiest place to find as the instructions on how to get there are quite poor but i guess that kind of added to the fun of trying to find it whilst carrying numerous bags! Once i... More

We stayed at Peace House Showa for 3 nights and because of bad weather spent quite a lot of time in the hostel. We had a traditional Japanese private room with tatami mat and futons. It was a huge room for only 2 of us - it would normally have been for a larger group but if they are not... More

Quaint guesthouse. Quite difficult to reach if arriving at night. I used my iphone to help me get here. The place was rather packed and my "bed" was a shelf on the wall. Its alright for one night's stay. There's basic shower and toilet but I got a voucher for a nearby bath house. Lots of people to meet if... More

The guest house is a real traditional house. That was some thing I really wanted to experience since we'll be in Japan. Staying at a hotel is the same all over the world. More over the owner and the people stayed here made us feel it was a real 'HOME away from home'. We had a pot luck party and... More

The owner, Yumiko-san, is very friendly and happy to assist in your travels. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this hostel. However, it's very different from larger hostels, and in a completely different class from a typical hotel. It's a traditional Japanese-style house, an old building which was remodeled by 150 of Yumi's friends. The space is small, but very... More
