The Screen is lovely and very modern. All rooms are created by a different designer. We had room 403 which was very cool with sheer curtains in each section of the room giving it a very groovy feel. Beautiful big bath tub, top aromatherapy products, a 10 button bum wash machine on the loo, beautiful linen on a gigantic bed... More

Modern and trendy is probably what most would use to describe this 13-room hotel just north of downtown Kyoto. 13 Rooms, 13 designers - that's their theme. We took 3 of the rooms for our 5-day stay in Kyoto. The location was great for what we wanted - family holiday with a small kid, lots of quiet, cute streets to... More

We had a semi-suite in this hotel and it was really great. The hotel shows a lot of good taste - Bedroom, living room and bathroom with jacuzzi was just offering everything we needed. The huge TV and Iphone stands just show how modernly equipped the hotel was. It is only a bit remote from the center. Best connection is... More

This hotel is interesting in that each room is designed by a different designer. So, this review, to be fair is only for our one room, which I did not particularly like. We were spoiled by another hotel in the area too, so there was a striking difference with this hotel and expectations were set due to similar price and... More

We stayed at The Screen for one night in Kyoto and wished we had stayed longer. Its in a great location, feels like a new hotel, and has wonderful service. From the moment that you check in the staff is there to help and take care of every detail. They bring you in to the lounge right away for a... More

fantastic place- stylish, unique, central location. staff went out of their way to be helpful. I have stayed in many fantastic hotels but this was the 1st time a hotel provided taxi chits for a restaurant a bit further away- what a lovely surprise. the room was spacious [rare in Japan] with a sitting area, a nespresso machine and computers... The Screen is a stunner! Great hotel in a perfect location. The free happy hour for guests is also a treat, though I am not sure they understood what they were getting into with three thirsty Australians! The rooms are a little over-designed, but everything works and the Korres products in the bathrooms are a nice addition. The Japanese breakfast... More

.. is what they say. I'm not sure but it certainly is a fine luxury boutique hotel. Small and intimate with friendly staff, sometimes English is an issue but nothing they won't solve with a smile. Our room and I believe all rooms don't have curtains - only sheds - which darken out the room, this makes it difficult to... More

This boutique hotel was intimate, spotlessly clean and contemporary. My daughter and I could not fault the hotel but for us the location was a little isolated. We did not understand Japanese and found it a difficult to find a restaurant in the immediate area that would cater to English speaking tourists. The hotel's restaurant was very nice however. Each... We stayed at the screen for 6 days. We where initially booked into one of the cheaper rooms but chose to pay extra for one of the bigger rooms. The room felt like a home away from home. Extremely comfortable. Staff where incredibly helpful and friendly. Nespresso machine and kettle with 2 pods every morning, 2 sachets of green tea... More
