We stayed 10 nights at this well-located, well-priced, and well-serviced hotel. It was very comfortable, quiet (in the rooms), fully equipped & updated, and loved that we could open windows to get fresh air! As with all Japanese hotel rooms, there was little space to move around or store clothes, but we managed fine being out most of every day....

Location is everything for the HMK; other than location there is not a great deal to recommend about it. The hotel is good, not great; functional, not memorable.
Three quick stops from the central Train Station, HMK is easy to find when you arrive in Kyoto. There are many many restaurants with a short walk of the hotel entry, and...

Close to a subway stop, near lots of restaurants and good shopping, helpful advice on both from the front desk. Very little storage space for clothing in room. This is Japan, so cleanliness is wonderful. Bar closes up shop at 10, with last orders at 9:30, so only samsampled it once. Never went to restaurants as we prefer to eat...

Yes I agree! This is a good hotel with all expected facilities and close to transport, convenience stores, coffee shops and restaurants. Koyto is worth a second visit (a better base than Tokyo) and I would definitely select the Monterey.
We are currently staying here for four nights. The hotel is central, and within easy access of the subway, just a few stops from Kyoto station. This morning we had breakfast at the hotel. I have never had such indelible food. It was, hands down, the worst breakfast I have ever tried to eat. (Disclaimer: we were eating the western...

I will never stay anywhere else if and when I am in Kyoto.
The Location: You are right in the middle of a big city and just a block away from a subway station ... so you are within easy distance of whatever you want to see. There are two Starbucks and 2 other coffee shops within 2 blocks of...

Good location near the center of Kyoto with good access (mainly by bus) to major temples and parks. Rooms are nice but small and rates are sort of high for such rooms. Would go again only if I can get a good deal.
We booked through the internet and not being very familiar with Kyoto, my husband and I weren't too sure of the location. We were pleasantly surprised when we got there. It is within walking distance from Sijo Dori (one of the main shopping street) and just 2 streets away there is this small road leading directly to the NIshiki Market....

We stayed 5 nights here in May 2012 and had a great time. The location is one block south of the metro station that services BOTH Kyoto subway lines, making it easy to get to from the train station and easy to get around the city. We arrived a day early (at 10:30pm) and the wonderful staff found a room...
