What a mixed bag of reviews this Ryokan has ! We stayed in room 1 (a 16 tatami room) in the older part of the building and thought our room huge, with the traditional paper screen doors, enclosed veranda, electric toilet (a very modern Japanese thing) and its own garden - a great room ! Convenient location for NE temples and philosophers walk but taxis are necessary for the town, Gion and other further afield places. Also close to subway so not too bad.
