If you want to do some sightseeing in Kyoto, it is better to get a place close to the station to take trains and buses (as common transports were a bit complicated to us), but if you want to be right in the middle of everything and want to do some shopping, this might be the perfect place. This hotel is in a perfect location, next to a huge market and shopping centre, and not far from restaurants, bars, temples, Gion etc. The rooms were small but comfortable and modern. Free wifi in the lobby. My only complaint is the breakfast - it is terrible. Go to one of the coffee shops just up the road instead.

Simple hotel - very new and nice rooms, tiny size as expected in Japan - but the location was amazing and made our stay in Kyoto so special! 5 Mins walk to Gion (Geisha district), Nishiki Market and the beautiful alleys of Pontocho nightlife area. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to Kyoto as a tourist.
