If you haven't stayed in a capsule before imagine a very clean, very white, slightly claustrophic and very 21st century youth hostel. It's the hotel of the future!!! Or, actually, it's simply a quirky capsule hotel in central Kyoto. The hotel is more like a glorified hostel but it's good and cheap and clean and quite the unique Japanese experience I feel. A fine example of a capsule hotel. Amazing location. Not ideal for couples as you say goodnight and don't see each other til the next morning on account of being on separate floors. Wi-fi available for free in the small lobby but not on the sleep floors.

We stayed here 2 nights. If you book your room early in Kyoto it prob ends up being cheaper. I have stayed at other capsule hotels before so I get to compare I guess.
