4 of us stayed at Kiyomizu Tenseian on 5 April 2012. Mrs Haraguchi met us at the bus stop, showed us into the quaint studio & told us where they lived in case we had any questions. We loved the small table which had an electric blanket warming our feet. We went to ask Mr Haraguchi the best way of... More

I lived in Japan for many years and speak the language. I stayed in both places on a family trip summer 2011. Apartment above the ceramic studio is in a quiet side street, close to Kiyomizu-dera, so good location. Small but clean, with tiny kitchen, 3 rooms, one tatami mat. The larger house is old and spacious, but rather dark... More

Better late than never.... At the end of May 2011, we - a family of 4 people: parents with 2 boys (2,4) - had the privilege to be guests at Salon Haraguchi, in the beautiful wooden house at Maruyama Park in Kyoto. Mr & Mrs Haraguchi who own the place are wonderful, welcoming people, so helpful, warm and kind, and... More

We stayed at both properties - Kiyomizu Tenseian and Salon Haraguchi. Our hosts, Mr & Mrs Haraguchi were fantastic! Incidentally, Mr Haraguchi is a master ceramist, specialising in celadon pottery. You will see his beautiful works in both homes. Mr Haraguchi who speaks very good English was the person whom we interacted with when we made our bookings by email... More

I stayed there with my family for 9 nights during December- January 2012. The ryokan is a perfect home for us. Although it is an old traditional ryokan but yet it is clean, well maintained and it has some modern facilities to support comfort modern living style. Anything you need is there (water heater, air cond, bath tub, wifi, microwave, coffee... More

I stayed at Kiyomizu Tenseian for 3 nights with my fiance, in January 2012. Frankly I would like to live there! What an amazing place. From the off, the communication with Takushi Haraguchi, the owner of the apartment, was fantastic. He speaks excellent English, and it was very easy to make a reservation via e-mail for the apartment above his... More

We stayed at Kiyomizu Tenseian, another property than Haraguchi Tenseian for one week in November. The place was spacious and comfortable. He also offered bikes for us to use for a few days. It was like staying at your relative's place. Mr.Takushi was such a great host. He gave us a list of local restaurants. He made sure we didn't... More

Last August I stayed 3 days ending August at Tensein Ryokan.AI friend of mine talked me about that wonderful, old and traditional japanese house from few steps of the historical neigborhood of Kyoto, Gion. Clean, simple and at the same time confortable, Tensein Ryokan, owned by Takushi Haraguchi-san, an excellent ceramist, is the best place to stay in Kyoto. Moreover,... More

We stayed during winter 2011. It was an awesome experience. We stayed in the other house, the ryokan in maruyama park. The ryokan came fully equipped with kitchen and its utensils, washer, dryer,TV,wi-fi,heater. Definitely a bargain. We had the whole house (two storied ryokan) to ourselves. It is also situated near two major shrines yasaka shrine, and chion-in. And the... More

Me and my cousin stayed in one of Takushi's ryokan called Kiyomizu Tensei-An. It is within walking distance from the Kiyomizu Temple and Gion shopping street. We stayed there for 3 nights. The house is located at the end a street in a very quiet neighborhood. We have the entire house to our own. The room is very clean. Everything... More
