My mother and I visited Japan back in 2007 and the Karatachi was our first experience with a Ryokan. It is perfectly located near the beautiful Fushimi-Inari shrine and very close to the trains. I loved everything about our stay here, it was such a great experience that I'm hopefully bringing my mother and a few extras back in 2012.... More

Didn't want to stay anywhere touristy, and chose this tiny family home near Inari Shrine, and conveniently located for the train to Uji, too. A bit tricky to find, but lovely neighbourhood and very welcoming family. The room was lovely, the breakfast was outstanding. This is a traditional ryokan located 3 train stops south of Kyoto Station. Due to Kyoto's excellent bus and train system, there isn't a bad location around town. This ryokan is next to the Keihan line and a 3 minute walk from the JR Inari station and the Fushimi Inari Shrine. There are only 5 available guest rooms which makes... More
